Watching Man City game in Madrid

Posting this here as it'll be seen by more people...

To cut a boring story down to the point, I'll be in Madrid this weekend for the Man City game. Sadly I'm not sticking around for the CL match.

Anyone been before who could point me in the direction of a bar where it'll be on?

Terrestrial channel TVE show some Premier League games in Spain. You might be able to see it in your hotel on TVE2, the schedules havent been released for Sunday yet (or aren't on their website anyway).

Arsenal v Sunderland is on TVE2 on Saturday.

Well it is the second thread you have posted to inform us you are going to Madrid, which is probably one more than is strictly necessary.

I look forward to seeing the sky banner being flown from a light aircraft this afternoon proclaiming 'Matt's Going to Madrid.'

And no, I don't know any bars in Madrid because I've never been there.

          Enjoy the trip.

                        Oh, where you going?

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Mate, come and watch it with the Madrid Reds in the Triskel Tavern calle San Vicente Ferrer, 3, (Metro Tribunal). More info here: www.madridreds.com

(Our pub is too small for the Real Madrid game though - would advise that anyone without a ticket heads to the huge mega pub the Irish Rover near the Bernabeu - you can hang around the stadium until the last minute that way.)

Here's some general Irish Pub info for Madrid (though the beer is cheaper in the Spanish bars):

Our place is tiny and closed during the daytime - stick to Plaza Mayor and Moore's there or check out the Irish megapub the Irish Rover near to the Bernabeu closer to the game and afterwards.

                            BERNABEU:

                            The Irish Rover MAP: http://tinyurl.com/ao9qlz
Avda. del Brasil, 7 (Metro: Santiago Bernabeau)
Hosts weekly live Celtic music concerts and magic shows. It also boasts a satellite TV and car park service. Food-wise, the pub offers lunches, including daily fixed-price menus as well as a catering service. With a traditional Irish pub atmosphere, The Irish Rover is a little piece of Ireland right here in Madrid. Now featuring the homemade American desserts of Uncle Paul.
Open weekdays, 11:30am-3am, later on weekends
                            Tel. 91 597 4811

                            Some other pubs:

SOL (5 mins walk from Plaza Mayor)

                            O'Neill's MAP: http://tinyurl.com/bkz86d
                            Street: Calle del Príncipe, 12
Metro: Sol / Sevilla (Red Line, L2)
Like the Rover, another massive Irish pub, probably open until 3am. Close to Plaza Santa Ana, another good drinking square...

                            Dubliners
Street: Calle Espoz y Mina, 7
metroMetro: Sol (Red Line, L2) Plus 2 minutes walk
This Irish bar is right next door to O'Connells bar. It has large screen TVs with football. They had gimmick drinks, and you can get a pint of whisky and coke or vodka and speed for 8 euros. Or if beer is more your taste you can get a bucket for 15 euros. They also do their own house special cocktails. This is a cosy Madrid Irish bar and the front windows display olde worlde items of furniture for that authentic touch.

                            Moore's (Plaza Mayor)
                            Felípe III, 4 (Metro; Sol)
                            Open everyday, 12:30pm-2am
                            Tel. 91 365 5802
One of the first Irish pubs to open its doors in the capital. Since then, two more have been added to the line-up: Moore's near Plaza Mayor and Moore's near Bernabéu Stadium. All three are a combination of cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, good quality food, excellent sports coverage and live music. Moore's Barceló has a pub quiz on Mondays whilst Moore's FelipeIII hosts one of the best student nights in the city on Thursdays with promotions and special prices on drinks. The newest of the three Moore's on Gutiérrez Solana has a top-class restaurant - just in case Figo or Zidane are feeling a bit peckish. And if you want to stay out a bit later, their dance floor "La Cueva" is open until 5am.
                            Open everyday, 9am-2:30am
                            Tel. 91 532 6331

                            O'Connell St.
Espoz y Mina, 7 (Metro: Sol)
A gret pub for deals on drinks, food and music, as well as sport. You can relax with a bucket of beer for €12 (six bottles of Heinken or Coronita) while watching football, rugby or the NFL. Highly recommended are the huge club sandwhiches, burgers and salads. but really, everything they've got to snak on is good value for your money. They won't let down music lovers, either; you can watch live bands such as Poker Band, Mardu, Green River Band, Firefly, and The Gran Vía Underground Orchestra Thursday through Sunday. Most importantly, don't forget Happy Hour, 7pm-10pm everyday.
                            Tel. 91 532 7956 / Tel. 91 531 6419

                            A BIT FURTHER AFIELD

                            Moore's (Barceló)
                            Barceló, 1 (Metro: Tribunal)

                            Molly Malone's
                            Manuela Malasaña, 11 (Metro: Bilbao)
Pub that serves up all sorts of entertainment with their pints. On Mondays and Tuesdays they hold intercambios; on Wednesdays, they host international fiestas where you can shake a leg with your friends. Thursdays you can enjoy the musical talent of Marta Malones, who will dazzle with her talent and Fridays, take part in sponsored parties. On Saturdays and Sundays just enjoy the pub to your leisure - eat, watch football on the two wide screens, play pool and drink your Guinness in peace.
                            Open everyday, 4pm-3:30am

I was meant to be in Madrid on a Staggy this weekend, couldn't find cheapo flights, so I thought £500 for the weekend was a bit steep...
