who sets these prices ? if madrid we should stick it up their lot - well those that actually travel for the return leg

i got mine for nothing - madrid end mind - but me mates have paid the price

what with hotel and flight its about £370 for 2 days before you hit the bars



anyone know if this is the norm at madrid ? never known of tickets this dear

There were 'cheap' tickets available for us, which were £58 (tier 6) and the expensive ones were £88 in tier 5. Total rip off either way.

When the draw was made it said Madrid upped their ticket ticket prices to make it the dearest match in their history. Best seats cost hundreds.


Real Madrid have unveiled their most expensive seat ticket in history for the visit of Liverpool in the Champions League.

Top seats at the Bernabeu for the clash on February 16 will cost a whopping £785 - and that's before the touts even get hold of them.

The record-breaking VIP ticket comes with a complimentary team scarf and food and drink from one of the club's restaurants.

But it is still double the price of the same ticket for a match against Juventus last November.

Real spokesman Javier Cano said the ticket is aimed at corporate guests who cannot afford a VIP box for the season because of the current economic climate.

'We expect a lot of interest for this match,' he insisted.

The tie is the first competitive meeting between Real Madrid and Liverpool since 1981 when Liverpool beat their Spanish opponents in Paris in the European Cup Final.

The fact that Liverpool are managed by former Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez and include Spanish players such as Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso has heightened the interest in Madrid. And it is clear Real are cashing in.

Their ticket and stadium sales rose 23 per cent to £104.5million in the last year and are expected to go up another 9.4 per cent this year.

They have already overtaken Manchester United to become the richest club in Europe by sales alone - and the Liverpool clash should help them stay ahead.

But Liverpool remain slight favourites to beat them and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, which would prove a very expensive defeat for the Spanish side.

I looked at the La Liga game for Real at home to Valencia via the ticket portal on the official Real site, ticket price for bottom tier was 100 Euros. Scandalous

Cheapest ticket for the Atletico-Porto game is 80 quid.

Tried to get tickets for Real's league game on Saturday but the cheapest there was 60 quid. Having said that we spoke to a group of mockneys who'd booked in advance and got theirs for 25 quid.

It kind of explodes the myth that it's dirt cheap to go to top games in Europe.
