    how does rafa rate kuyt?

is he the symbol of what rafa believes is the ultimate player or is he a long term stop gap until a better striker/right-sided attacker with a massive defensive workrate becomes available?

it seemed a couple of years ago that rafa may have seen a dani alves/SG right side as what he wanted. fairly different from what we have now.

Kuyt's name shouldnt appear too close to the top of a list highlighting our main problems.

He was very good against City.

Kuyt is better playing up front rather than wide man although I believe in European games, at right wing because the pace is slower, he plays better there rather than up front.

When he is up front though he somehow always finds himself out wide.

He did have a great game against City and even got on the scoresheet to! Or did it appear that way because the team had a shocker all round?

He works very hard and does not sulk. With a bit more fine tuning he maybe turn himself into a crowd favourite.

I thought he was **** in the first half...when we dominated them. How many times did he get the ball in space and **** it all up. He's shocking with the ball at his feet.

He should play at RB, he'd be up and down the wing all game, and wouldn't hurt us going forward as much.

Sounds interesting. He's a work horse for sure.

He'd be one of the best RB's in the league IMO. He is solid as **** defensively, can kind of cross a ball (not good enough to be a starting RW though) and runs all day.

This is all bollocks! Everyone slags him off when he turns in his routine piss poor performances (and quite rightly so as he is nowhere near good enough for us), but when he plays slightly above average every other blue moon, or gets on the scoresheet he's some kind of hero that we can't do without!!

do many of you get to the match on a regular basis? he's nowhere near as bad as people make out and a lot of this seems similar to the papers and lazy journalism, on tv you only see about 1/3 of the game so you don't get to see anything that goes on when the ball's not at the feet of a player, and Kuyt's not a world beater but far from garbage

Lucas on the other hand ....

Kuyt gives 100%. I can't fault him for effort. But he's a plugger.

Here we go again, another lazy, myopic Kuyt bashing session. Kuyt is hugely important to this current Liverpool team thus he maintains his place in this Liverppol side. Frequently this season he has been singled out for praise by opposing managers and players who recognise the contribution he makes to the team.

Every great team needs a Kuyt IMO. Always works hard and has the knack of scoring the odd very important goal.

Don't forget, without his goals we would have drawn away and lost at home to Citeh this season. Also, we might not even have got into the CL without his last gasp goal.

An underrated player if ever there was one. Sure he has some atrocious touches at times but you just got to put up with that because the positives from him far outweigh the negatives, IMO.
