It's the club who decides that the shot-gun approach is the best. WHy have 40 players if you can't give them suitable opportunities. Maybe a small reserve quad would mean more would get the opportunity to develop at a high level and push for the first team.

If Rafa gets control of the Academy (which was in the Echo that he has I think) you would think the ressies will get sorted and have less players

I certainly think that a lack of joined up thinking and power struggles within the club have resulted in some of the problems.

The game at a national level though still needs to look at what is happening in developing players and the reserves league has to be part of that.
