    Boro (a) match thread

Steven Gerrard makes his first start in almost a month against Middlesbrough this afternoon as Rafa Benitez makes four changes from the side that beat Real Madrid. You can listen to the game on our Match Day Live show from 2.30pm GMT.

Nabil El Zhar comes in for his first league start ahead of Albert Riera, while Sami Hyypia and Ryan Babel replace injured duo Alvaro Arbeloa and Fernando Torres.

The Reds XI in full is: Reina, Aurelio, Hyypia, Skrtel, Carragher, Alonso, Gerrard, Babel, Mascherano, El Zhar, Kuyt. Subs: DC, AD, AR, YB, LL, DN, SD.

Dirk on his own up top FFS.

Come on Dirk, make me look a cunt.

Big game for El Zhar. Personally don't think he's up to it but there we go.

Got to agree with Shaggy, El Zhar has never rocked my Kazbar, please prove me wrong today.

It'll be intersting to see how ElZhar does not just in a cameo appearance. I guess he is playing ahead of Riera too as Babel could have played on the right.

Speaking of Babel, he really needs to start showing something this season, never be a better time than this afternoon.

Kuyt played upfront on his own in the Newcastle away game no?
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
        Mine angry and defrauded young?

El Zhar is isnt good enough but he can beat a man and have bursts of energy not sure for 90 minutes though.

Quite like the look of that team under the circumstances. Two wingers that like to run with the ball, it's been a while...

                    Streams anyone?

Should have enough to win but i just cant escape the feeling it'll be a draw or a 1-0 loss. We havent won there since 2002 and they always seem to play out of their skins against us despite our strong dominance.
