I do have some element of fear as to who we would actually get though. And also that we're going to get to find out sometime in the summer.
There's nobody who springs to mind.

Mourinho is the only manager who i'm convinced would win us the league - which is why i have tunnel vision on this one

God damn people quoting posts before they get deleted

Ever since Rafa started all the **** about his contract after the Newcastle game we have self destructed. Andy gray was right at the start of the season by saying the only person to stop liverpool winning the title is Rafa! He has well and truly cocked it up. Everything was great until after the newcastle game by acting the big cheese asking for all sorts of powers to be put into his contract. His job is the manager which means coaching his players and winning games and nothing else.

The Reds slumped to only their second league defeat of the season after Tuncay added to a Xabi Alonso own goal.

A victory for Chelsea over Wigan means Liverpool now sit third in the Premier League, seven points behind Alex Ferguson's front runners.

Benitez said: "Before the game it was difficult and after it is more difficult. We will see against Sunderland and try to improve but it depends on United now.

"If you want to stay at the top of the table you have to score.

"I will not say too much because for me it's clear that in the first 20 minutes we created five chances and you have to take chances if you want to win.

"We had some problems and injures - some players were tired but we had chances. We were in control for the first 30 minutes. Middlesbrough did well in the second half."

Liverpool's day got worse on 77 minutes when the returning Steven Gerrard had to be withdrawn after picking up a knock.

However, Benitez revealed afterwards that the injury was unlikely to keep him out of Tuesday's visit of Sunderland.

"He had cramps. I don't think it will be serious," said the boss.

If you say it often enough they begin to believe it

Whatever happened to positive thinking and some motivation?!

Of course but they did so by cheating and bitching their way to titles. Drogba, Robben etc..all cunts. We are Liverpool

Whilst I'm not necessarily against Mourinho is manager, IF Rafa was to go, it was only a couple of years ago that he was absolutely hated amongst Liverpool fans. He certainly doesn't play the attacking football that some are crying out for (not something that's particularly top of my list - it's results first then football style). I don't know I just find the whole Mourinho love-in somewhat bizarre. And yes I know it's basically because people feel he will win us the league which I guess is the important thing, but it seems that everything that comes with him is being forgotten. I guess like most football fans are it's just fickleness

People go on about the Liverpool way, is Mourinho the kind of manager that fits in with that ethos?

Another thing, and this is merely a question, does anyone know how much work Mourinho puts into the youth setup at the clubs he is at? Is he merely a first team only type of manager, or does he work meticulously a la Rafa in building the whole infrastructure of the club?

No, they did it by winning games. The diving might have aided them but its a really refutable argument.

along the way they played great football! But jose wins like rafa, he stops the other team ! Plus he'll bring the best out of ordinary players ! And make our great ones even better ! Also excuse my ignorance but who did rafa bring into the first team in the last 5 years from the youth team who's made an impact in our team? At this stage I thought we'd have a few jems! But as carragher wrote in his book , the "kids" rafa has been bringing in are no better than the local talent we already have !

How about motivating players and setting them up tactically? Did you see what he did last week against the scum to stem the tide? He sub'd his centre half at half time admitting he made a mistake. Rafa would never do that, he's too stubborn. Our players looked bereft of ideas today in the final third as they have all season. Rafa sets up his team to slow down the game and keep in tight. It works against the better teams but is the reason we will not win the league under him.

Pfft - I'm just a bit fed up. I hope now the pressure's off we can go on a decent run and start playing some good football.
