Our first goal yesterday I was convinced the ref blew his whistle so when everyone exploded I just stood there.

Watching the game on Itv and when they replayed the goal straight after I could hear the whistle and the real players went to the ref, was it someone in the crowd?!

On a better note my 2 and a half year old boy watched the first 50 or so minutes of the game and was running around shouting 'GERRARD GOAAAAAL!'. It was the first time he'd really taken that much notice of a match and he was no doubt drawn in by the electric atmosphere and the excitement of the commentators. Absolutely BRILLIANT!

Raul apologises to Real fans

Raul has apologised to Real Madrid's fans following the humiliating Champions League defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Real went into the match at Anfield hoping to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg but they were overwhelmed 4-0 by an inspired Liverpool outfit.

Raul has paid tribute to Liverpool but admitted it was a devastating feeling to lose so heavily.

"They (Liverpool) were better in every respect. Once again we are out of the Champions League," the Real captain admitted.

"We had high hopes for the match, but all that remains is to congratulate Liverpool because they've shown themselves to be a better team. There are no excuses.

"I want to thank the fans for supporting us and apologise to them. The defeat is my most painful in the Champions League, a 4-0 loss hurts."

With Madrid now out of both the Champions League and Copa del Rey, the only piece of silverware they have left to fight for is the Primera Liga title.

Raul told Marca: "We must lift ourselves because there is still the league and we cannot give up on that.

"The next few days are not going to be easy, but we need to be calm because on Saturday we have an important game and we must raise our morale.

"There are cycles you go through and you have to accept them. Real Madrid went 32 years without winning the Champions League, then came another cycle where we always reached the semi-finals, and now we are suffering. We need to continue working."

How was the turn from Nando in the 1st 5 mins or so that was luckily saved . the ball was played into Nando from the left and instead of trapping it, he just played it into space, turned and whack. Absolute class and the keeper was friggin lucky to save that.

When I clicked on this thread I was really looking forward to reading more posts on our famous demolition of Real Madrid on Tuesday, Reals' heaviest ever defeat in the European cup and a result that further underlines our credentials as the No.1 team in European competions.

Instead I've had to read through pages and pages of debate on how our fans might/might not be partially/wholly/not at all responsible for our shortcomings at home this season.

Stop it please or change the thread title.

I'd like to read and post about handing Franco's fascists their arses and what it might mean for the rest of the season, as the thread title implies
