    Jay Spearing

I thought he didn't do himself any harm at all last night. Okay it was already game over but he played with such hunger and desire that you'd think we were a couple of goals down.

Great attitude considering he very rarely gets a sniff and his little Roadrunner legs reminded me of Mascherano

superb performance for the lad, shame its in an area where we are plentiful!

proper little pocket rocket though. ALthough if the quota system comes in it may be a case of see ya Lucas and Spearing will get higher up the pecking order

Was chuffed for the lad. Never really thought he'd make it for us at the top level unfortunately, but if he can perform like that then you never know.

What made you think that? Lack of opportunity?

He's a good looking ****er too, some people have it all

He did well for the short time he was on. Madrid were shot by then though. Hope to see him given a few more cameos to prove himself.

Honestly? it's just a gut feeling more than anything. Seen lots of the reserves and he always performs well just not sure he's got that something special to ever make it at a team like Liverpool. Love to be proved wrong of course.

Personally I don’t think he has a long-term future with us but a) I would love to be proved wrong and b) his cameo last night was ****ing ace. If he ends up dropping down the divisions, or even going to another Prem club like Guthrie, he will forever be able to cherish the memory of coming on against Real Madrid in the European Cup, playing really well and having his name sung loudly by The Kop.

Its a shame we haven't been in positions similar to that where we can blood younger players when games are wrapped up.

He's a good player but very small (i'm not much taller then him though ) and that'll be what holds him back.
                  We come not to play.

                    Height: 5'6, small indeed. I'm 5'7.

I do think his height will work against him. Spearing has to look to Mascherano as a small chap who's (against the odds) managed to make it in the centre of midfield.

No doubt he'll be buzzing today

There was one free kick we were defending near the end and when Spearing went back it looked as though we'd sent the mascot on for 5 minutes to have a crack at them

Could be a cracking little player IMO. Did not look out of place (physically yes but technically no ) so that is the biggest compliment I can give him.

Nice touch by Rafa to send him on - the Madrid forums were going mad saying Liverpool are now taking the pisss sending on their kids.

He looks like a little boy! More so than Lucas even

and that pass to the right wing when he was under pressure was fantastic

I'm sure his chest was bursting when he heard his name being sung on a European Night by the Kop against Real Madrid when we're 4-0 up

                              what a feeling
                              Cheers
