    Are we too nice?

After such a breath taking victory last night questions will be asked why do we struggle with lower tier premiership clubs.
My suggestion is we are too nice too respectful .Too nice because we lack the bite and snarling tackle of a Case,Souness etc.
We're too respectful because we sit 2 defensive midfielders in front of our defense and then expect our forwards to be extra defensive as well.
We need to put some of the confidence we produce on champions league nights into crushing teams like Hull,Portsmouth etc
We also need our senior players to show some of Rooneys rage and energy and Ronaldos slipperiness and guile. No matter what we think he does everything to help his team win.
We need to get right in the face of these teams.
Take everything to heart and use it as fuel to shove whoevers opinion and bile down their throat.Make them eat their words.
    No more mister nice guy.

We're not "flat-track bullies". We find it hard to raise our game against the dross that populates the Prem League beneath the top 5-6 places. Understandable really. They also cause us more problems by launching the ball long to their muscular forwards - unlike Madrid.

The simple answer is that Madrid played to our strengths. They had a weak midfield which left loads of space, they did not sit back and defend (they could not defend actually), and they were not an organised unit.

Teams that have found us out at Anfield are always well organised, tough to break down, and don't particularly try to attack (even after going a goal down).

They also are usually more athletic than that Madrid team. Christ they looked statuesque at times. Ramos seems to have instilled the same defensive naivety that he did at Spurs. The PL has come on leaps and bounds defensively in recent seasons and especially when they are trying to do little else players and teams are very good at denying chances and space.

We are also not helped by PL refereeing which allows a lot more physicality and rarely cards cynical fouls.

That and the fact that we were inspired last night - every player fought for everything in a way that is almost impossible to do on even a semi-regular basis. No one is going to get hyped for a game against Stoke, especially if the crowd don't. Given that you have to rely on the base skill level and consistency of your team. Ours doesn't have enough regular goal threats to mean that you can be reasonably sure one or two will be having a good day, which you can certainly say about United.
