Did he send out an assistant then?

To not give a post-match interview is against the regulations (small fine probably).
    Oh I don't know.

Yeah that's what I thought too. But as Rafa said, different rules for Slur Alex....

          True - well said Fergie.
You were the better team at getting thrashed at home...No arguments there

Phelan gave the interviews I saw. Seemed a lot more straight forward and honest.

The amusing thing is that elsewhere Fergie has been quoted as saying the performance was 'unacceptable' - he needs to get his story straight at least.

To the question 'what do I expect him to say' well I would have taken - "individual errors cost us badly, it won't happen again" or similar. To claim that they were the better team smacks of latter day Houllier.

I bet if any other manager had refused to come out and give an interview the press would have ruined them for being a bad loser etc. Has anyone even seen it mentioned in any articles?

To say what he said was more than a little deluded, and was the behaviour of a man that could well be losing the plot. I'm not banking on that one just yet though.

Alex Ferguson reportedly refused to speak to Sky Sports before or after Manchester United's 4-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday in protest at the scheduling of the game.

Ferguson was reportedly unhappy that the 12.45pm kick-off - agreed by both clubs - gave Liverpool an advantage, with the visitors having an extra 24 hours to prepare after the respective Champions League games against Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

The game was an obvious choice for broadcast by Sky, and the lunchtime kick-off time - a standard choice for this fixture - was suggested by Greater Manchester Police, rather than the broadcaster.

The Times claims that Ferguson would have preferred the game to take place on Sunday lunchtime, giving his side an extra day.

Interestingly, Ferguson didn't appear to think the relative lack of preparation time impacted on his side's performance.

I've seen it mentioned in passing. There won't be a big fuss as if there was then the journos/news outlets involved would be added to the BBC in the list of people he won't give interviews to. Pathetic really considering the bollocks he comes out with post match (as to be fair most managers) and the fact he will publish quotes on the website anyway.

Can you imagine the reaction on here if Rafa had made a similar sort of claim after a bad defeat?

                        Indeed.

I really think the majority of the media are in fear of him. The ones who stand up to this bollocks, such as Alan Green, are inevitably 'punished' in some way.
                        Oh I don't know.

Didn't Queroz always do the interviews when they lost when he was assistant?

Typical Fergie - did not expect anything else.

Was also really heartening to hear Alan Hansen give Utd and Rooney a public dressing down on MOTD.
