However, we have our Ronaldo in Torres/Gerrard. You can't have every player in the team being world class/flair players, especially with the money we have at our disposal. You also need players like Kuyt and that is why we operate so well as a team.

Yeah but seriously, I love Kuyt but our biggest problem this season has been breaking down the lesser teams. You don't think swapping Ronaldo for Kuyt would help alleviate that?

We have thrown away a fantastic chance to win the title and Kuyt epitomises why we have done that. He stands for pretty much the entire footballing philosophy of Rafa in the PL.

I'm with wiw all the way there. No way Dirkie is the reason why we've (seemingly - all is not lost yet) failed to win the league this year. The quality is there to trump Real and Manure, it's all for us to see. It's just the consistency and the belief that we can break teams coming with 10 men behind the ball.

I'm not his biggest fan but in games against top sides he is invaluable. Personally I wouldn't start him every time against the crap teams - I think we need more than he offers offensively - but he's in my team for all the big games...every time.

Hmmm. I think that even this characterisation is unfair. While I don't believe Kuyt to be the worlds best players he was instrumental in the early season team setup that looked balanced and dangerous. We do need someone who offers different things to our attack (probably both a targetman and a pacy wide player) but when we play with the ball in the opposition half against all teams Kuyt is a very useful player.

Looking at the fantasy PL his stats bear comparison to pretty much every other attacking player in the division. He is not elegant but he is effective.
