We won't play 4-4-2 that would be a bad idea.
Lucas' performance at Old Trafford was exceptional, only by the low standards that the majority of his displays have set for him, IMO.

All things being equal, Alonso is a miles better option, especially for 'must win' games, as they are now.

I thought Alonso was definitely out?

Feared that United might drop points and give us an opportunity that we would blow. After the news last night, I expect a performance fitting of it's two predecessors.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

That's basically been the story of our season

Making it all the more exceptional, no? Given the context, the importance of the game, the booing by his own fans, being in and out of the team..

Yeah that's fine, but arent we just embracing/accepting his usually poor standards?

Very few would be creaming themselves if Alonso had put in such a performance - and that basically makes my point

No I don't think so. You seem to have taken a very narrow-minded view on the matter so I shan't argue the point any further if you don't mind

Are you going the game? Can't wait, think the atmosphere will be great

I dont think it's narrow minded as such, i just need more than 3 decent-good performances to undo the memory of 15-20 bad ones, that's all.

Yeah, i'm going and i hope to god we keep our foot on the pedal

                  It's short for 'shall not'.

Same as 'cant' is short for 'can not' - as in, fredo can not/cant make any sense of anything.

Same as 'dont' is short for 'do not' - as in, please do not/dont let fredo post anymore.

                  It's easy

Short for 'shall not'. Bit of a weird one I suppose, like 'won't'

It was more the "if Alonso played the same game we wouldn't cream ourselves therefore I'm right" bit to be honest. You think he's had 15-20 bad games and I don't, fair enough. You just fail to acknowledge the scenario? Given the tough time he has had, I'm going to give him credit for pulling out a very good performance at Old Trafford of all places. It was **** or bust for him as far as I'm concerned and he's shown his mettle in what is probably our toughest fixture of the league campaign. This to me shows he has what it takes mentally and he will kick on from this

                    and ditto

No doubt he deserves credit for the performance at Old Trafford mate. And i gave him plenty of credit for a great performance at Newcastle too.

If he could produce those levels on a regular basis, i'd have no qualms about him being in the team

Lucas or Alonso. In reality, it's a no brainer. One swallow (or even two) doesn't make a summer.

It wasn’t too long ago that a good majority of fans had written Alonso off saying he was past it () or had been found out…

I’d love to dig up some of them old threads to name and shame but just couldn’t be bothered.
