    Wonder if this will work

Manchester United are ready to launch a campaign to prevent their fans denigrating the memory of the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives at Hillsborough if the two sides draw each other in the Champions League quarter finals today

Uefa have indicated that Liverpool's quarter-final will not take place on the anniversary of the tragedy – 15 April. But, after another afternoon of vitriol between the two sides' fans on Saturday, United will undertake work similar to Manchester City when the Manchester derby fell on the 50th anniversary of the Munich disaster last February.

That campaign was successful, with City manager Sven Goran Eriksson leading pleas for fans to adhere to a minute's silence. The only noise during the minute's silence appeared to come from outside the stadium.

But the raw hatred between Liverpool and United fans knows no bounds, the "murderers" banner in place for Saturday's game a reminder of United fans' willingness to raise the memory of those killed at Heysel.

For a while after the 1989 Hillsborough tragedy, Liverpool supporters stopped singing Munich songs. But, as Sir Alex Ferguson observed a week ago, the levels of enmity have increased and the chants returned about both disasters.

"IF the two sides draw each other." Should be something in place everytime both sides are to meet.

I agree, ridiculous all these stupid chants are. The Utd fans are worse than us though.

          agree

there are plenty of other funny things to sing about

singing about dead people is just not right in my book. having said that i am ashamed to say i have done it in pubs when i was younger
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

              We'll see.

If we do end up playing them then guranteed some, not all of the Utd fans will be booing and will not respect those that have died.

The nobends don't care that they boo us and they certainly have no respect for the dead, we've seen that already.

I know I meant in the past tense sorry my mistake.

We'll see? What do you mean we'll see? We HAVE seen. I saw it myself just last weekend.

Neither side can claim any moral highground when both are at it. It's sick.

Do you think all of our lot have respect for their dead?

I've respect. I hate all that Munich taunting and whenever I hear it I try and stamp it out as should very other right thinking Liverpool fan. Of course there’s a rivalry it’s fierce and it can be bitter. But there’s a line. Hillsborough, Heysal and Munich are part of our respective histories and should be off limits. There’s nothing much I like about United but I do respect Sir Bobby Charlton who along with Busby, Ramsey and Robson is one of the few people in football who ever deserved a knighthood.

While people like Charlton are still alive we should respect the fact that they are still haunted by what was a tragic event. I’ll happily egg on Vizconde Benitez to wind up Mr Ferguson. I don’t care if it gets ugly but Liverpool fans should take the lead in stopping the nonsense. If United fans persist they can do so in isolation. It can be their problem not ours.

I agree with everything you've said, but the fact is, our lot do it as well.

It happened last week, i saw it with my own eyes. "Murderers" on one side, "Munich" and "Harold Shipman" on the other. It's ****ed up and to suggest it's only a problem amongst Mancs is incorrect mate.
