Hopefully this will work, but I’m trying put a few figures together to quash the ridiculous rumour that Rafa has spent more than Ferguson. Gross spend isn’t an accurate barometer as Rafa has had to sell to buy and total net doesn’t give a fair reflection as Ferguson cashed in on academy / youth players like Richardson, Butt, Neville etc and sold players bought pre-Rafa.
The only fair way to judge is to concentrate only on players bought during Rafa’s reign, likewise it should only be these players that contribute to the net spend.
Figures as always are quite ambiguous and are taken from different sites, but if anything I’ve leant generously towards United.
