I think you are unrealistic. Villa to come ahead of us - What was that based on?Originally posted by Joe King View PostI'm not negative - I'm just realistic about our chances. There is no point in extrapolating from small sections of the season. Only until the side consistently deliver results would I then start to really believe about our chances of attaining silverware at the end of the season.Forwards.......

I can't make up my mind on this. One minute feel its opportunity lost to increase pressure with the international break, and occasionally think, no they'll fester on it, so it's even more effective.Originally posted by rudedog View PostWhat a fantastic result - the pressure was really on us this time, early on in the season we struggled to take advantage when other teams slipped up so this is another massive turning point for our season.
Psychology plays a huge part in sport and against the back drop of them losing 2 games on the trot, this result will have delivered as massive hammer blow to Man Utd. You can bet they will have been watching our game, hoping to see some weakness in our performance - a focus to deflect from their own short comings.
Now Fergie and his players have 2 whole weeks to worry and fret where it all went wrong, 2 whole weeks thinking about our last 3 results where we have utterly destroyed the oppostition.
The seeds of doubt have been sown and now nurtured, I don't think the international break will help them at all.
Think there's prob no sure way of knowing which is, would be better. Simple fact is we have cranked pressure up and they are feeling it, break or no break.

Do you think we would have been in the same position if Carragher was injured? I know either Agger or Hyypia can do a job there but its his organisation and communication skills which does really keep the defence together.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostInjuries have cost us too. Still, we might win the league despite the injuries to the world's best centre-forward.
Maybe there was a sense of over-achievement from Villa's perspective but the way the barometer was going, I felt at that time that Villa would have over-taken us.

Your prediction was still an absolute whopper thoughOriginally posted by Joe King View PostMomentum, they had it. We had lost it. Their injuries have really cost them especially losing Martin Laursen.
Maybe you should change the first part of your username to 'burger'

Injuries haven't cost them. Being in the Intertoto cup has cost them. Their squad was never going to cope with all the games and the extra long season has killed them.Originally posted by Joe King View PostMomentum, they had it. We had lost it. It's the same reason I said we still had a chance of the title even after we blew it v boro. Man Utd have simply had to play to many games whilst also globe trotting for the world club cup. The schedule is taking it's toll on them and with 90% of their squad first teamers for their respective nations they'll get no joy there.
i tell you what if the Mancs play Sunday v Villa they will be struggling big time against Porto. That is tough enough when you are early in the season, never mind at this stage.
With regards Villa they have struck gold with the international break as their two main players - Young and Agbonlahor have been dropped from the England squad. I suspect Villa will be back to their usual self v Man Utd.Forwards.......

we would have scored more and let in more, if agger and skrtel were both fit we would miss carragher but not half as much as our only world class forward. Point is we have 2 very able centre backs but only one top class strikerOriginally posted by Joe King View PostDo you think we would have been in the same position if Carragher was injured?
