You think we'll win it this year with 84 points? I dont think that'd be enough.

7 wins and 1 draw may be enough. Anything less and its curtains for me. But I guess the timing of the wins and draws is vital. For instance if we drew with Fulham that would hand the initiative back to United, whilst a draw from our last two games may be all we need after a United collapse due to pressure.

Personally I think 8 wins is a big ask, but we'll see. The only three I can see us slipping up in are Fulham away after all our players have been on international duty, West Ham away after a champions league game v Barca (possibly).

And of course Arsenal at home. Though it's worth noting that if all goes as expected we will both play in the champions league, they would play in the fA cup semi on the weekend whilst we rested and we would then both meet. So that gives us an extra rest over them, giving us the advantage.

All the other games come down to nerves and whether we bottle it or not.

Last home game in the 89/90 season was Derby - though we'd already won the title against QPR (also at home) a few days earlier. Coventry was away (and was a 6-0 tonking if memory serves - Barnes hat-trick).

The Tottenham game where Clemence made his first return to Anfield was in 1982. We clinched the league, winning 3-1 after being a goal down at half time. It sticks out particularly as I'd been to all home games that season but the ground filled up early, the gates were shut at 1.30pm and I didn't manage to get in (this being in the days when you could still pay at the turnstiles for most matches). That was a massive kick in the plums.

We also tied up the league with a home win v Spurs in 88, Beardsley notched in a dull 1-0 affair.
