    Chelsea's performance last night

Was that the best away performance at Anfield during Rafa's reign?

I'm struggling to think of a better one, to be fair.

    The 4-1 under Mourinho.

The 3-1 FA Cup match which led to the 6-3 to Arsenal

Possibly yes. It was certainly more convincing that their 4-1 win oddly.

When Barca beat us 1-0 in 2007 they were pretty decent too as I recall

A nice way of looking at it Craig H and it probably is.

But I look at it the other way and say that is our worst performance under Rafa. Our players constantly giving the ball away, even when not under pressure, meant that Chelsea did not have to produce their best football to beat us.

Arsenal's 6-3 in the League Cup was more comprehensive, but of course we had a rubbish team out that night.

Fair play to Chelsea and in particular Hiddink, they nailed us.

Has to be the 1-0 defeat for me. They were awesome, and as well as Chelsea played last night we had several players who were really poor. Against Barca IIRC we did try a lot harder and most of our boys had decent enough games.

I'd agree with Dannyman - Chelsea played, taking nothing away from than that but it was prob one of the worst performances I have seen from liverpool in a long tie, possibly as a result off how well chelsea outplayed us across the park! We just got took apart and when that happens it's noones fault - it happens sometimes, and you just have to hold ur hands up say fair play to chelsea and get ur heads sorted and and get back on track.

We seemed to lack any strenght, bite, agrression, passion, bottle, creativity, we just got dominated! **** happens!

If they'd had Essien all season and Guus in charge, I think they would have been well clear in the PL by now. They matched our strong players and outclassed our weak ones. Even at 1-0 I was wishing we were playing Manure, they're nowhere near as strong as a motivated Chelski with Essien. Is Mascher back for the 2nd leg? Or will we field a B team anyway?

If we had Torres fit all season I think we would have been clear at the top of the PL.

The thing about these defeats is Invonovic scored twice but wouldn't have played if Bosingwa had been fit and in the 6-3 against Arsenal I think they had 8 shots all night including a missed pen.

As we're often told the big big games are settled by tiny details and luck, we had our fair share in 2005 and Chelsea got it last night with the team selection leading to 2 of their goals.

I'd say it was a really poor performance by Liverpool and will wait to see if chelsea do it to us again next week

If we'd had Mascherano last night this thread would not be here.

One performance does not make a team. They lost to Spurs with the same team, they lacked desire, but are on a mission in Europe. It's the Holy grail for them like the prem is for us.

Shame for them that they are going to come up against one of the best sides I have ever seen in Barcelona.

You're JoeKing again. Last night was the biggest defeat Rafa has felt domestically and I expect a few home truths to be told at the debrief today.
