Look who was sat next to my bro

at the game the other night. Only ****ing John Barnes!!!

Barnsey was there with his son. My bro said he was a hell of a nice guy, top man. Everyone kept badgering him for an autograph and that but he was sound, nothing was too much bother for him.

    John Barnes.

    Legend!

I know mate, I was just saying the exact same thing to my missus! My bro couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it either I thought he was having me on when he text me.

It was supposed to be me that was there it's just I couldn't afford to go. £60 my bro had to pay for that ticket, it would have been worth it just to sit next to him!

I was sitting next to Alex Kacaniklic, the Swedish winger in the Academy. Lovely young lad. We were sitting on the row with all the Academy boys it was amusing really.

I was very fortunate to see the legend that is John Barnes Grace the red of Liverpool Football Club, the game that sticks in my mind was the QPR match, in a very similar way to Torres when he scored against Chelsea, we all looked at each other and we knew we had a 'World Class Player' on our books, now the phrase 'World class' gets banded around far too easily in these Sky football days but this fella was the real deal and no histrionics or mouthing off in front of refs, the guy also had to put up with some awful racism at the time but he just got on with it. A class act. thanks for the memories John, YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tannhäuser Gate.
Liverpool Football Club come back from 3 nil down in Istanbul and win.

I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue

What tale shall serve me here among
                  Mine angry and defrauded young?

i met john barnes after my first lfc match when fowler scored a hat-trick against the arse (not the 3 minute one, thwe year later when we were losing to an ian wright peno and came back to win 3-1!)

barnesy was a true gent that night after the game. He talked for ages with us and signed anything we asked him to - he must have spent about 45 minutes outside the ground....all the other players would just sign while they walked to their cars (fowler didn't even do that!!!)........

barnes is a top quality legend!!!

A true Liverpool legend, and as someone who was too young to watch Dalglish in his prime, he's my all-time favourite Liverpool player

John Barnes - May have mentioned this before - anyway years and years ago wehn i was say about 9! - Me and my dad where in a park (iirc Thurstaston Park) - - I can’t remember the exact details but iirc, Liverpool had played the previous day and barnes had scored.

So me and my dad are having a kick about and John Barnes walks past with his kids in a buggy as they were only little babies. My dad speaks to him, and we end up having a little kick about and talks to us for about half an hour. He signs my ball and off we go.

Roughly 6 months or so later – My granddad did a good dead for Steve Nicol who as a gesture invited us down to Melwood for the day. What a day, I still remember it so well – met everyone I could have hoped to have. As john barnes comes out and is signing autographs, he spots me and recognised me!! and said something along the lines off “i’ve met u before in the park with your dad!” – i was just gobsmacked!
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
