    Liverpool vs Blackburn Match Thread

Steven Gerrard has been named on the Liverpool bench for this afternoon's clash with Blackburn. You can listen to full commentary on our Match Day Live show from 12.15pm BST.
The Reds skipper is struggling with an adductor injury, so makes way as part of four changes from Wednesday's 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.

The Reds XI in full is: Reina, Arbeloa, Insua, Agger, Carragher, Alonso, Mascherano, Riera, Benayoun, Kuyt, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Gerrard, Dossena, Lucas, Ngog, Skrtel, El Zhar.

Excellent line up. Bar Gerrard, that's our best team.

I think Carra needs a rest. Aside from the Boro game, he has played every minute of ever other PL game (I think) Maybe Sami could have played instead. His heading ability defending set plays against a "Big Sam" team would have been useful

Interesting to see Agger in for Skrtel, although not surprising.

Babel not even on the bench.....

The only thing I'm curious about is who's playing behind Torres. Really hope it's Benayoun and Kuyt's on the right.

Saving Babbel for Tuesday night maybe? Any Rovers team news?

Skrtel - paying the price for Wednesday or injured?

Blackburn are coming to defend deep and launch the ball at every opportunity, therefore we need to deny them of the ball as much as possible cue Agger playing to improve our retention of it, IMO, and to improve our penetration as he's fantastic at bringing the ball forward and opening up the play.

And Agger was due a game anyway, he's back since a couple of weeks.

                    I agree. That's Benny's best position IMO. He'll get a hatrick

I have a feeling Agger will score today, hes a decent threat especially when teams come to defend. Good line up and im sure yossi will be the one to line up behind Torres.

Think Benny will start on the right and will swap positions with Dirk from time to time. It's going to be Nando and Dirk upfront at kick off.

CHRIS Samba is expected to be Rovers' lone striker for today's trip to Anfield after Benni McCarthy was left on the substitutes bench.

The African defender will continue where he left off so effectively in last weekend's win over Tottenham as Sam Allardyce names an injury-hit line-up for the game.

El-Hadji Diouf misses out through illness, Morten Gamst Pedersen is out with a calf strain while Roque Santa Cruz and Jason Roberts are also missing.

Vince Grella returns to the substitutes bench, while Keith Treacy, David Dunn and Tugay make rare starts in a packed midfield.

Steven Gerrard only makes the bench for Liverpool while Fernando Torres takes his place in attack despite a slight injury niggle.

ROVERS: Paul Robinson, Andre Ooijer, Stephen Warnock, Chris Samba, Tugay, Ryan Nelsen, David Dunn, Aaron Mokoena, Keith Andrews, Gael Givet, Keith Treacy.

SUBS: Benni McCarthy, Vince Grella, Zurab Khizanishvili, Carlos Villanueva, Martin Olsson, Mark Bunn, Aaron Doran

LIVERPOOL: Pepe Reina, Daniel Agger, Fernando Torres, Albert Riera, Xabi Alonso, Yossi Benayoun, Alvaro Arbeloa, Dirk Kuyt, Javier Mascherano, Emiliano Insua, Jamie Carragher

SUBS: Diego Cavalieri, Andrea Dossena, Steven Gerrard, Lucas, David Ngog, Nabil El Zhar, Martin Skrtel
