Report - Gerrard out for further two games

Gerrard blow for Liverpool: Injured midfielder to miss Arsenal clash

Liverpool's title hopes were dealt a crushing blow last night when Steven Gerrard was ruled out of their next two games with a recurrence of his groin injury.

Gerrard missed Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final return with Chelsea due to suffering a reaction in training the previous evening.

He has been ordered to rest for the next week and will be unavailable for Tuesday's home game with Arsenal and the following Saturday's trip to Hull.

A club spokesman said: 'In the training session before the Chelsea game, Steven unfortunately aggravated a small strain he had previously suffered in the adductor muscle.'

    ****ity **** ****.

Play him anyway and rest him after this one..

I'm sure he would play through the pain barrier for what could be our biggest game of the season.

We coped without him just fine the other night, and we have a great record in the games he's missed lately. A blow obviously but we can more than cope.

I'd rather see him miss the Hull & Newcastle games and maybe scrape 45 mins against Arse.

Ah bollocks, left him in my fantasy football team, no more transfers left!

For ****'s sake. Margins are tiny in this title race, this could be fatal for us.

The other lads have to step up, hugely important couple of games coming up. Yossi & Nando, let's get it on.

This is bad news indeed - Man Utd haven't been playing well at all recently but I can't see that continuing for much longer. We really need to win against Aresnal as any slip up now is bound to be fatal. Whilst we are far from a one man team, Aresnal are looking better than they have for months - this game is one where we'll need all the advantages we can get.

                      I'd risk him if possible.

Drop points to Arsenal and the title race is over IMO. Never say never of course, but I fully suspect that would give the Mancs the confidence boost they need to scrape over the finish line.

A win for us could have the opposite effect, I think we should be aware that the whole country will be looking at this game and knowing it will be a crucial marker in the premier league.

****, do we need Gerrard for this one. We have a decent squad, but he is our best and most crucial player.

We can take heart from our last two games where we scored 8 without him in the team. With Xabi in such good form and Mascher as well we'll be fine. Benni in the hole with Kuyt and Riera on the flanks for me, either of them is due a goal.
                        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I don´t think it is a matter of playing through the pain barrier. I think if he was put in a game situation he would very likely be out for the season.

But this is it. We have to win. It looks like it is going to be Kuyt, Riera, Yossi. But maybe Babel would scare them a bit. I think we are more then capable of winning.

Love the bones of Gerrard but just imagine, we win the league with Gerrard missing a few games would be two fingers to media claim we are a one man team

I just dont understand why we released this information 3 days before the fixture?

Surely it would have made more sense to let Arsenal plan their tactics with the assumptiation that Gerrard was playing?
