Mainly played before my time but undoubtedly a legend. A mainstay of clips and highlights from the early part of the Paisley era.

Probably the first attaching player I ever saw playing with the 5 on his back.

    RIP

Before my time but was a top player. R.I.P. Thoughts with the family
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He was a great player for us, for which he will always be remembered by me. Getting Parkinsons at that age is also tragic. And all deaths are sad.

But I feel it also important to say that off the pitch he could be very difficult to like and unpredictably aggressive, sometimes physically. The stories were legion at the time, years before his diagnosis.

I don't mean to be a git or to piss on everyone's parade; I just find it difficult to forget or to know how to balance up these things. Using a completely different example, I won't go near ex-Smiths' Morrisey's stuff because of some of the things he has said, or US singer Chris Brown because of the things he has done. Etc, etc. So when I think of Ray I think both of the great footballer but also some of the rest.
