    It Was NOT Tonight

If you had asked me on opening day of the season if I would take 14 points from the others in the "big 4", that we do the double over Chelsea and Man U? I'd have bitten your hand off. 4-4, 0-0, what does it matter? We have not lost the title tonight-- we lost the title losing to Boro, drawing Stoke twice, drawing Wigan, West Ham and Hull. We have had massive injury spells to our best players all season long. That we are top tonight shows what a great team we have, but that we are not running away with the title only proves how costly those ridiculous draws in mid-season were. December and January have cost us. It's not over yet, but if we finish second, we should not look at today's performance as the problem (although letting in 4 from Arshavin was ridiculous, especially the way we conceded). The problem is we need to batter the lower half of the table when given the chance and we did not.

The title is coming home. Soon.

Does put some perspective on it, but.....

If we HAD won we would be in a truly solid position.

Right now that doesn't exactly soften the blow.

I can't believe those cunts are going to equal our league haul. It's heartbreaking.

          Yes, it WAS tonight.

We murdered a team and managed to concede 4 goals in the process.

          It's totally unacceptable.

Had we won, the title would have been ours. I really felt that.

Now the worst team to be crowned champions in this league's history are laughing their way to the title.

I can finally say I saw Rafa's Valencia tonight. After five unconvincing (in the prem at least) years I finally saw The Machine. And I liked it. If you offered me the chance to challenge for the league this year and be solid favourites next I would have taken that.

I don't care how much stronger Arse, manure and Chelsea will be next season. We need one player like Arshavin and one Torres replacement and we're done.

              It wasn't tonight.

As the original poster said too many ****ty 0-0's earlier in the season have cost us. Gerrard has even said as much on Sky. If we had won a couple of those games we could have drawn tonight and had the league in our hands.

you say we have taken 14 points from the other 3 which is a waste if we fail to win the league IMO

We've been "two players short" for years and years.

People are talking as though we are definitely going to win the league next year.

Chelsea are Arsenal have been crap this season, they will both be much stronger. So will the mancs.

I guess it's true the results earlier in the season cost us.

But realistically you take the position you're in and concentrate on the last result.

So both are true, it's simply about winning enough games to get you to the title. Whether you do it by beating the top side and losing to the bottom or vice versa it doesn't really matter.

I've not said next year since being stung by the Houllier hope syndrome. But for as much as I would love to see Mourinho here, I'm finally feeling something. Had that 'one' player this season been Keane and he played like he can we wouldn't have had those stupid draws earlier.

This year we were one player away - If we'd had Torres fit all season I believe we'd have won it

We lost the title against Boro, Stoke and Hull, and Arsenal. 11 draws (out of which 7 is at home) says it all, doesn't it.
