    Corner taker

As we all know Gerrard is an awful corner taker.
Riera stepped up for two today and whipped in a couple of nice balls. I'm sure Maxi could also whip in a decent ball.
Why do we insist on one of our better presences in the box to continue taking corners! It's doing my head in how many oppotunities we miss from it!

I honestly can't remember the last time we took a decent corner, I find it really frustrating that so many of our corners fail to beat the first man. It shouldn't be hard to practice the delivery of corners so that they can at least beat the first man.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Because Gerrard is captain and wants to take them. We really should be asking why the captain feels the need to micro-manage every aspect of the team's game to the point where we don't play well if he doesn't.

No player is bigger than the club, but some players are bigger than the team..
        Really?

It's probably no exaggeration to say we are the worst at corners in the league offensively. Gerrard is and has consistently been an awful corner taker and should really be in the box.

          It's an absolute farce.

That seems to me to be the case me.

But if thats the case..... If Rafa isn’t willing to tell him he needs to be in the box (instead of throwing horrendous corners in consistently). Are the other players around him not willing to tell him otherwise?

            Not good if so.

If I was as **** as Gerrard at taking corners then I wouldn't take corners. He must be deluded if he thinks he's doing a good job.

The last time we regularly threatened from corner kicks was when Tony Hateley was centre-forward - yes, that long ago

I disagree 2000/2001 we were great at set-pieces, McAllister, Murphy & Redknapp all could deliver, whilst Babbel, Hyypia and Heskey meant we had plenty of targets whilst Folwer and Owen seemed to be in the right spot should the ball drop in the box. We were pretty effective with the long throw that season too, one of the reasons why it was Ged's best. Unfortunately, Babbel got ill, Heskey started to play as an advanced centre back, poor old Gary Mac's legs couldn't hold out for another season and Redknapp had been ravaged too often by injuries.

The best corner I thought last night was Riera's, yet inexplicably, Gerrard resumed corner duty.

Finally a goal from a Gerrard corner. Couldn't have come agaist a better team as most of the goals the bitters score agaist us are normally set peices.
