So do i mate. But as i said, you're never going to have 11 top class players in the team.

I'd like to have an alternative option, but i wouldnt ship Kuyt out.

As someone else pointed out, Ronaldo aside, there's no right wingers in the PL who genuinely stand out as being particularly great.

I wouldnt have minded that Arse-shaving lad from last night, mind.

I like kuyt, but he doesn't do it for me in that position. And I hate saying that still knowing he has been one of our better players this season...
Worst case scenario we get a very good squad player although I disagree about replacing him in the starting XI

We don't need a 'better' player as such for the right side, just another option with different attributes to Dirk.

You simply won't find a more selfless, hardworking and intelligent footballer than Dirk Kuyt. What we also need is a very quick and rather more direct player to supplement what Kuyt brings to the right side. Ideally it would be someone young who's willing to bide their time as I still think Dirk should start the majority of games.

He's crap through the middle but as soon as he went wide (now his proper position), with Yossi in his preferred position, he was a different proposition. I like him a lot and thought he had a fantastic 2nd half. In fact having said that he did pretty well 1st half too, but he's no central striker IMO.

Who then? Kuyt has scored 8 and has 5 assists in the league plus a number of hugely important goals in Europe, this coupled with his phenomenal workrate, and his selfless running which creates space for others.

Is it a coincidence that Kuyt appears to be more highly rated amongst fellow players and coaches than the Football Manager obsessed internet pundits? For such a limited player, how does he find himself playing for one of the most fluent attacking international teams?

What I would say would be that Dirk is probably better utilised in the big games like last night. I think any quick flair like player that we got for the right side would probably get more of the home/smaller opposition team games which I would be happy with as teams that park the bus aren't likely to pose any reason to utilise his style of play when we are basically playing ping pong at their goal.

His close control in tight areas last night was fantastic, in fact he was fantastic all game imo. I could see the sheer grit, determination and exhaustion on his face in the second half when sprinting to close someone down time and time again

He's not 'world class', but then you'll never have 11 world class players.

He's not dynamic, but he brings other things.

I do wish he was quicker and stronger, with a better touch though.
                    My god I agree

I think he's had a good 2nd half to the season and not many wingers bar the lady boy have scored more than Dirk this season.

He set up 2 last night as well.

What we need is a better right back to replace Arbeloa to play behind Kuyt
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I don't know who we realisticly could replace/suplement him with. I can think of a number of players I would rather have playing the right wing, but players that are not within our grasp.

His goalscoring record is good for his position, but I have to say 5 assists is not much for one of the most creative positions in a team. Many times when he is among our best players in a match it is often for non-classic winger qualities.

He is as others say selfless, hard working and a great teamplayer - but I still think that is better utilized in other parts of the pitch. That is not usually the qualities you put on a winger when you describe one, rather a holding/defensive midfielder.

I have a very ambivalent feeling towards Kuyt...

Absolutely, he was emmense last night

I really think we need an alternative to Dirk in that position, someone who offers something very different from him, but I would still be playing him in a lot of games, especially the big ones.

At the moment I would be much more concerned though by our left attacking side than our right, neither Riera nor Babel have done half as much for the side this season as Dirk has on the other flank.
