I can't see how that can be improved upon.

To a mere pleb like me it reads that it’s fine to finish second, so long as we come from behind, but it’s a sackable offence to reach the summit before you finish second?
Thanks in advance Pal.

can i create a similar scenario then
imagine if you had married a beautiful woman and she left you
that is actually different than seeing the beauty then not marrying her and instead marrying someone nice but not beautiful
see ?
and im not sure again i will bow to you that i have asked for rafa to be sacked
- i may of asked should he though
imo we were in a winning posi - in fact blatantly we were - yet if we dont win the league then imo we have blown the league

Sorry, but your analogy is ****, my sweet lover. Of course it's more disappointing not to win when we have lead, but that is not a good reason for being more critical of the manager because we lead rather than came from behind.Originally posted by Elvoz View Post

so your ok with blowing a 5/6 point lead that could/should of been 8 points ?Originally posted by Operation View PostSorry, but your analogy is ****, my sweet lover. thats fine
but i also think thats where "some" of our fans go wrong
they "settle" for things far too easily
its about opinions of course

.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I am only questioning the notion that if we had never reached the top of the table but had put a strong finish together, this would alter the view of how suitable Rafa is to be manager.Originally posted by Elvoz View Postso your ok with blowing a 5/6 point lead that could/should of been 8 points ?

its not a case of setlling.....but its realism. realistically we all wanted a title push we have one. Yes we were 5pts ahead........but then Rafa got us into a strong position a couple of seasons ago and we blew that.Originally posted by Elvoz View Postso your ok with blowing a 5/6 point lead that could/should of been 8 points ?

the fact is we dont have a strong enough squad to cope......and yes its gutting we blew a 5 point lead, but then didnt Scum go 13 games without conceding a goal? so we hardly blew it......Scum got themselves back into position._____________________________________

We always find excuses, not enough money, squad not strong enough, etc, etc. We have the largest squad in the league with some of the most talented players and always have a large amount to spend. The fact that I believe we were 7 points clear (when they were in Japan) means that there was a failure on the part of the team or manager.Originally posted by red g View Postthe fact is we dont have a strong enough squad to cope......and yes its gutting we blew a 5 point lead, but then didnt Scum go 13 games without conceding a goal? so we hardly blew it......Scum got themselves back into position.
It might still happen but if it doesn't we only have ourselves to blame.

...who are also to be credited with getting us into that position in the first place. I just don't understand why that doesn't 'cancel out' the criticism for being overhauled when in the lead.Originally posted by Chrono View PostThe fact that I believe we were 7 points clear (when they were in Japan) means that there was a failure on the part of the team or manager.
I understand it feels like we should have won it from there but the only fact is our final league placing - the ups and downs over the course of the season simply add up to where the team finishes. It seems a reasonable position to argue that second (or third) isn't good enough over the course of the season but that's a completely different debate..
