Hull City - Pre Match Talk

Can't see a thread for this, unless it got lost in the myriad of posts...

So, what do we all reckon then? Hull are on a terrible run (as were Boro when we met them, but alternatively so were Villa) and we need to bounce back in a big way.

Personally, i'd make a couple of changes at the back. Carra is looking knackered, and a match against a lower placed side like Hull could be the perfect chance to rest him, with Sami coming in to deputise alongside Agger. I wouldn't change either Arbeloa or Aurelio, cos this game could be a perfect chance for them to get their mojo back.

Gerrard is back, but we looked great going forward against Arsenal, so i'd be tempted to keep that formation going, with Gerrard on the bench if required, or to get some match sharpness back if we're cruising it?

    My Team:

    Reina

    Arbeloa
    Hyypia
    Agger
    Aurelio

    Mascher
    Alonso

    Kuyt
    Benni
    Riera

    Torres

    Thoughts?

Not sure how Gerrard's fitness is, but I would be suprised if neither Gerrard nor Carragher started
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Gerrard's been out for what, 3 weeks...no point throwing him back in against a team like Hull, better to ease him in with a run out after 60 mins, against a tiring Hull side.

Carra...well, i can't see him being rested, but i just think he needs a chance to put his feet up for a match, and recharge his batteries.

No I can see what you're saying but they are our two leaders on the pitch who lift the team if things aren't going well (I know others could do it but they're the main ones), if we're still believing we can win the title I would be suprised we'd leave them both out in the same game, given that there's some degree of choice in the matter.

Just my opinion of course, and I'm not even going to attempt to second guess Rafa's thinking

I would not pick Riera based on him being rubbish, awful, inconsistent, slow, awful, crap, rubbish, inconsistent.

            Reina
            Arbeloa Carragher Skrtel Insua
            Mascherano Alonso
            Kuyt Lucas Benayoun
            Torres

I'd be tempted to test the Agger + Skrtel partnership as I can't see Hull causing too many problems (touch wood).

I think Fernando is going to have a field day.

Would agree with you there........4/1 with the bookies to be outright top goalscorer, that's worth a punt imo

Agree with that, really wanted him to be good, he's scored some cracking goals, don't think we should wright him off just yet though. Happy if benni started over there,

Was pretty ****ed off with Riera the other night myself. He just didnt get involved enough and when he was involved he offered **** all.
Kuyt isn't blessed with Riera's control, skill and general wing play yet he has a ****ing go at it, always puts himself about and makes something happen. Riera on the other hand goes missing. I'm not sure he's the biggest team player about either.

I can see this being one of those games where either everything goes right or horribly wrong, no middle ground. Therefore I am predicting either a 3-0 loss or a 0-8 victory.
