I'm not sure it matters that much. We've been able to cope without our two stars recently and I'm sure we'll be okay against Newcastle.

Could be a good game to start Ngog from the start if true

It'll be a tough game for him to start from the off IMO but, we have got to give the lad a chance some time though, and, from what i've seen of him when he has played, he's played well and took his chances too.

If Torres is deffo out of todays game! then we have no choice though but, the team's playing with a lot of confidence now so, bring it on

Torres not on Liverpool team bus at Anfield

Fernando Torres is definitely out of Liverpool’s clash with Newcastle after he did not even take the team bus.

Reports emerged in the Sunday papers that Torres may miss out with a hamstring strain, the type of which has dogged him all season.

Having scored 13 league goals in just 20 games this season, the Spaniard has been firing Liverpool’s title challenge right to the very dying embers of the season.

However, Liverpool will definitely be without Torres for the visit of Newcastle after The Reds disembarked the bus without their star striker.

Rafa Benitez will now surely be forced to start Steven Gerrard upon his return from injury as Liverpool look keep the title race going on Sunday.

                Thought Kuyt did well today.

He was man of the match IMO, he has been outstanding in the last few weeks.

I'm not Kuyt's biggest fan but he has been fantastic this season.Very consistent.I think the problem I had with him was expecting an out an out striker, which he isn't tbh.His all round play has to be applauded.

Fernando Torres injury boost ahead of West Ham trip - Liverpool FC latest

                      Fernando Torres

LIVERPOOL are set to welcome back two of their international stars for Saturday's crunch Premier League clash at West Ham.

Fernando Torres, who missed Sunday's win over Newcastle with a hamstring niggle, and Javier Mascherano, who was substituted with an ankle problem, are both in line for a return at Upton Park where the Reds will be looking for three points to maintain pressure Manchester United at the top of the league table.

However Xabi Alonso, who was the victim of Joey Barton's crude lunge that led to Newcastle midfielder's red card, is still struggling with that knock and may struggle to face Gianfranco Zola's side.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez said, "Xabi is the main doubt for the weekend

"He has been working and hopefully he will be better in a few days. He is improving but we have to wait.

"We'll have to check him for the weekend because it is more serious than Mascherano's injury."

Benitez is also hopeful Fernando Torres will have the chance to add to his 16 goals this season against the Hammers.

"He is training with the physios and maybe tomorrow he will start training with the rest of the team," said Benitez. "I think he will make the weekend."

Meanwhile, Torres is likely to travel with Spain to the Confederations Cup in South Africa next month, but Benitez optimistic his star striker will have plenty of recuperation time during the summer.

"We have to work together with the fitness coaches and also the doctors of Spain during the summer and hopefully it will be okay for him", Benitez said.

That was always going to happen. Luckily it's not a long tournament (I think).

That's good news for me - I have already got tickets for all of Spain's matches & don't worry, I'll be making sure he doesn't over-do it for Spain & end up getting another injury!
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!
