They can all **** off if they think rafa should have said well done to whiskey breath. Did he say the same to us when we hammered them 4-1? I think not so **** fergie and **** anyone else who thinks rafa is out of order.

Fergie is a self obsessed wank stain who thinks he can do and say what he wants

He gave respect and praise to the club but stopped short of a personal congratulations to the man who was utterly disrepctful to Rafa all year.

Nothing wrong with it and only sensational journos making it in to a storm "he was given ample opportunity to congratulate Sir..." **** off!

Hate the ****ers by all means, but it reflects badly on us as a club when he fails to acknowledge that they were the best team over the season.

Old whiskey breath never fails to congratulate other managers when they do it - wenger, dalgleish mourinho etc. If/when we win it next year, ferguson will acknowledge that the table doesn't lie - something king kenny always swore. I read that he actually wrote to rafa when we beat milan to congratulate him on the victory.

I think we'd come across with a lot more class if rafa would just act a bit more gracious in public.

          Ahh **** it:

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has paid tribute to Liverpool's title challenge.

United were crowned Premier League champions after their goalless draw with Arsenal on Saturday, but Ferguson was impressed by their determination after the 4-1 victory at Old Trafford in March.

"Their players have done well," he said.

"They won 4-1 here which was a travesty of a result because I didn't think it was a 4-1 result.

"Nonetheless they got great impetus from that. I know it's hard to defend a 4-1 defeat but I actually thought we played quote well in the game.

"But there you are, we lost four goals to long kicks, long passes and we didn't recover, we lost the next game.

"That gave Liverpool the scent and they took the scent and credit to them as they battled away."

Last time I looked the winners of the Premiership were Manchester United. And Rafa has congratulated Manchester United.

I think it's obvious that this joke of a story has been entirely and deliberately engineered by the media. They ask Rafa if he wants to personally congratulate them, Rafa does so but stops short of personally congratulating Fergiescum and then they spin Rafa's lack of direct comment on Fergie as a snub.

I don't see why anyone should expect Rafa to congratulate him when no more than a month ago Fergiescum was leading a venemous and bitter personal attack on Rafa, a co-ordinated one at that with his puppet Allardyce. Fergiescum can say anything he likes about someone and that person should forget that and just bend over for him. Sorry but it's just ridiculous. Fair play to Rafa for sdtanding up to the ginsoaked ****.

I think people are being a bit harsh on red desire. Personally I think that Rafas attitude is justifiable but he must know how it will play with non-LFC fans and it does make him and by extension us as a club look disingenuous. Obviously Rafa is not responsible for the daft spin that papers and commentators put on his words but perhaps given his knowledge of how they operate he could have been more magnanimous.

I dont get this ****, what did people expect Rafa to say? I don't recall Hiddink congratulating United yet nothing has been said about that.

People asked Rafa hoping to get the reaction they did or something more juicy. They didn't ask Hiddink as he is buggering off and hasn't had a season long argument with Fergusson.

Whatever. What did you want/expect Rafa to say then?

True, but i'd much rather Rafa was honest, which he was, than to hear him praise Ferguson just so as people not associated with LFC don't hate him/us, **** em i say, all Rafa needs to worry about is LFC & the fans imo.

And while we're at it, this is exactly the sort of thing the media have been praising Ferguscum for years, building a them and us attitude , they all hate us etc, thus making the will to win stronger, Rafa won't ever go as far as Scumface, but it's no surprise the media are reporting it in this way, had it been Scumbag they would all be hailing the master, for not bowing to a rival. Its bollocks.

The press conveniently forget the antics of Whiskey nose over the years, his classless treatment of Kidd etc, Ferguscummy **** has no class at all.

Rafa was 10 times more magnanimous than Ferguson would have been towards Liverpool and although he stopped short of kissing the arse of a man that's been 'beyond the pale' in his vitriolic and personal attacks upon Benitez, I think he said everything that needed to be said.

Do you mean he sticks to his guns or stands by his comments?
                            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

No mate, you're not. I agree totally with some of the previous posters about Ferguson being classless himself, especially with regards to our 4-1 at old toilet. My point is that we're better than him and better than his club. If he wants to come across as bitter and twisted, that's up to him.
