    LFC launches official Facebook page

    Jimmy Rice, 18 May 2009
    LFC Official Website

Liverpool Football Club today officially launches its Official Facebook Page, where fans can interact with other Kopites, watch exclusive video content, upload their own pictures, win top prizes and much, much more.

More than 17,000 supporters are already enjoying our lively discussion board, sharing their favourite pictures on our photo wall and registering their tributes to departing legend Sami Hyypia.

As part of our launch week, there will be additional videos published each day, starting today with Pepe Reina's amusing guide to his teammates, which is available only on LFC Facebook.

If all this wasn't enough, our page provides fixtures, tables and results, news, polls, competitions and the opportunity for you to quiz your favourite LFC personalities.

We've tried to make the Official Liverpool Facebook Page as entertaining and enjoyable as possible but there's one thing we can't provide - YOU. The more Kopites get involved and post their own photos, thoughts and views, the better we can make LFC Facebook.

If you're already on the social networking site, simply click on the link below and 'Become a Fan'. If not, registering is quick and easy. Again, just click on the link below and follow the instructions.

    Why are we on Facebook?

To open up new lines of communication with supporters, further improve our online interaction with fans and to reach passionate Reds from all over the world who may not currently visit the website or view the LFC TV channel on a daily basis.

A brand new re-designed Liverpoolfc.tv website is due to launch later this year and one of the key improvements fans will see is a new User Generated Content channel with the ability for supporters to publish their own blogs, videos and pictures and comment on content posted by fellow supporters. The new UGC channel will allow fans to publish the content they want to read, watch and look at – and not just rely on the official content that is featured within the news channel on the site.

Through this new channel on the soon to re-launch official site and an official presence on sites such as Twitter and Facebook, LFC is determined to get closer than ever before to fans all over the world.

And to date there's 25,412 fans subscribed to that page, not 17,000 as wrongly stated by lfc.tv.

I've been on it since the start .

I do now get about 20 posts a day to my news feed from LFC though, which get in the way a bit .

Anyway fredo, it'll soon be 200,000 odd, it's only just opened .

Liverpool FC is today celebrating making history after becoming the first football club in the world to officially reach one million fans on Facebook.
Since the launch earlier this year, we've had an incredible response to our official LFC Facebook page as Kopites have flocked to see exclusive videos, interviews, photos and more.

It all began on Monday, May 18, 2009, when we shot from 17,000 to over 100,000 fans in just two days.

Our rise and rise has seen us smash one landmark after another and we are now the most popular club on the social networking site after overtaking Spanish giants Real Madrid (746,139 fans).

Other official pages on Facebook don't come close to matching our popularity with Arsenal (514,815), Chelsea (391,364), Manchester City (28,925) and Everton (21,999) all lagging behind.

If you haven't joined us yet, you're missing out on our lively discussion board, fans' photo wall, news, polls and the opportunity for you to quiz your favourite LFC personalities.

And we've already built up a library of great videos you won't want to miss, including: the travelling Kop shake Old Trafford to its foundations; Jamie Carragher's awards; and touching tributes to the 96. All this plus behind-the-scenes photos with the squad.

We've tried to make the LFC Facebook as entertaining and enjoyable as possible but there's one thing we can't provide - YOU. The more Kopites get involved and post their own photos, thoughts and views, the better we can make LFC Facebook.
