Added to the departure of Piet Hamburg that leaves very few coaches and only that ex-Barca guy who has been mentioned as coming in. I suppose McParland might have some sort of role but I thought he was going to be overseeing things rather than hands on.
I imagine we will see a huge employment drive in the next month - I expect rumours of a Gary Mac return, any other ex-players people think might be involved?

Unsure about ex players but certainly now need experts on youth development.
With the cull i and the appointment of Segura i wonder what new philosophy the academy will implement to ensure young players are developing correctly?

I agree with you.
I'm not sure about ex players too, even the appointment of Dalglish as some sort of ambassador is a bit far fetched IMO. Even though he was great blah blah blah, and is a fantastic figure at the club, I'm not sure after so many years out of the game would have done him good. He wasn't that impressive at Newcastle neither. Give him the role of an honorary director, then I'll be happy, but a hands on role, hmmm ...
And this applies to any ex-red. This is the past, we need to move forward.
If Rafa employs any ex players on the coaching staff / as ambassadors or whatever, it's because he feels they have something not offer, not just because they are ex players. Rafa is far to thorough for that.

Yes he also thought that about Ablett. Look where he is now.
Apart from the fantastic Sammy Lee, I haven't seen too many ex players (from around the same era) doing too well.

To a degree I was more refereeing to the rumours than the likely appointments. However Rafa has in the past seemed keen on people who know about the club and the way it works - I would expect at least one ex-player to be part of the latest recruitment drive.

What about Thommo? I think he would make a great addition to the backroom staff.
