I honestly can't see both Agger & Skrtel being here in 12 months. I don't think either will be happy not playing regulary and thats what you need your centre backs to be doing. If Agger actually stays fit for a season he won't be content bench warming as we've already seen evidence of. Rafa has been fortunate that Agger and then Skrtel both have had lengthy injuries.
probably how i felt about Carra 7 years ago when he was 24. this season will be interesting as i am sure that Carra and Agger will be his first choice but just look at scum and chelsea there 3rd choice centre backs get plenty of games as well and i am sure skrtel will have an important role to play next year.

Think Skrtel will have to wait at least 2 seasons to become a regular and as long as he gts enough opportunities to pay sure he will stick around knowing carra cant go on forever.

Probably because he did f*ck up quite often it seemed. Not his fault - he was inexperienced and not playing in a team that's as good as the present one but I feel safer with Skrtel at CB than I used to feel with Carra anywhere in the team (although that's probably more than seven years ago, now I think about it. The season when I had more confidence in him was 2000-2001 when he was at LB. All the same, he felt more of a liability at CB for some years afterwards, as you suggest).

Skrtel and Agger have the potential to be fantastic (and complementary) centre backs - all they lack is experience which, I agree, they can get over the course of the next couple of seasons.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Hmm, maybe, since Carra ends with an a, Carrinha would be better. I know it's a feminine ending but it didn't seem to stop Garrincha. Possibly though it might have been his nickname that drove him to drink and an early grave so it might be better avoided.

I don't think anyone has a problem with the sort of posts and discussions you seem to be talking about, and if their posts are met with abuse that's what the report button is for. Over the course of the last season there's been a hell of a lot of criticism dished out on this site really when you think how most people would see things with the benefit of hindsight.

A lot of people however have an issue with posters disrespecting or abusing our manager, players or club, that's not constructive at all and rarely inspires constructive responses. There were points during the season were that sort of thing got out of hand, we all know how it went, one person calls Benitez a "fat waiter" or something, another calls them a cunt, someone else called them both cunts and off we went. People got very entrenched for a long time in one camp or another, rcdnw and all that nonsense, and things got very fractious, but I kinda think we might, almost, possibly, be past that right now, just for a little bit at least.
Someone needs to set up the MRMCDNW brigade.

Not sure when carra broke his leg? but to me when he came back from that he was like a different player, he started to push forward better and his whole game seemed different.

although i take your point about not playing with as good defenders....this was his defensive team mates 10 years ago....
