We needed another one anyway and a fairly experienced one IMO. We'd be mad to just go into the season with a 35 year old VVD, and injury-prone Gomez, Leoni coming back from an ACL injury who will miss the start of the season and has only about 20 top flight games, and Jacquet who has only about 40 games experience in the top flight in France

Just saw this now

Young centre-back Amara Nallo is on his way to HJK Helsinki on loan. The Finnish season runs from April until October, meaning he is expected to return to Anfield before the January transfer window opens.

The defender, who joined the Reds' academy from West Ham in 2023, was sent off on his debut in a Champions League meeting with PSV Eindhoven. He picked up a second red card in a Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace last season and also played the final 15 minutes against Qarabag in a European victory last term.

HJK finished fifth in the league last season but made it into the Conference League qualifying rounds after winning the domestic cup. The Helsinki side have former Premier League striker Teemu Pukki leading the line after the veteran returned to Europe following a spell in Major League Soccer.
