I grew up in South Wales - I was already a Liverpool fan when John Toshack went there in 1970 because we played in the Red of Wales - 1st memory is getting very angry listening to the 1971 FA Cup final - on the radiogram - yeah we didnt have a telly - got a colour TV in time for the 1974 final - never forgot that one. Lived in Halifax Yorkshire in the 70s, my dad said 'I'll take you to a top class football match at Elland Road, I think it was 75. Anyway when we got to the ground and the Stewards said that the home areas were full but there might be a bit of room in the away end, to be fair my dad was not tied to any club but just wanted to watch a game between 2 great sides. So we got in and It was certainly a bit intimidating to me as I was only 12 at the time but I was knocked out by the colour and language (not queens english) and some very colourful choices of words. I was hooked! I could have ended up being a Leeds Fan. Stewards normally get a bad name but I'd like to say thanks to that steward for giving me a lifetime of happy footballing memories.

The first live game I ever watched was the 1966 Cup Winners Cup Final, we just got a tv and there was not a lot of live football on, I was nly 10, and lived in the West Country so not a lot to choose from. We lost
we lost 2-1, I got really upset and have followed ever since. It was 8 years until I saw them in the flesh, the 1974 Charity Shield, Keegan and Bremner were sent off.

We had next to no English Football in Oz with the exception of the FA Cup Final. My Dad used to buy the newspapers everyday & the Monday Daily Telegraph had all the weekends results down to the 4th Division plus the tables too. Eventually someone printed a magazine called Football Weekly or something like that & he had that delivered every week up until when he passed away in 2013. Dad played the Pools every week .

Can’t say I’ve seen or heard anything about them in years mate. Probably died off when sports betting exploded into our lounge rooms.

Norfolk boy growing up in the 70s.

It was tractors, pigs or Liverpool fc.

After a severe case of swine flu it was LFC.

My earliest memories of football is watching Leeds vs Liverpool on TV with my Grandad. He was rooting for Leeds, I was rooting for Liverpool.

No idea why, but it stuck.

So far over football it's not funny these days, but cant let go of that place in my heart where Liverpool lives.
