Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Not surprised once the multi club idea was abandoned. It the reason why he came back. Might also help whoever takes over as the next DOF not to have him in the background.

A bit more on it all.

[Joyce] Liverpool facing leadership upheaval as Michael Edwards quits FSG role Transfer guru was frustrated with failure to embrace multi-club model while club’s sporting director Richard Hughes discusses Al-Hilal move

[Pearce]Owners unlikely to recruit a replacement with FSG president Mike Gordon set to resume control of running football operations.

I like the second part as it seems when he stepped back a bit things didn’t run as smoothly. He was very good at his role.

We need proper LFC people at the top so we have the long term vision and stability in place.

They do say ‘never go back’.

Its definitely not been the victory lap that was exepected and though the stars alligned for one year outside of that the transfer and contract situation has been chaotic.
        Modifying post.

To be fair to him he only came back on the basis that he would look for & set up a nursery club for us

FSG changed their minds & it never happened
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Great timing. Hughes is leaving also so how can he be giving his best? Why didn't they leave with slot. Now we're really up against it.

Yep, like you said, Edwards was CEO of football for FSG. When the multi-club idea was dropped there was talk of him leaving then. But he temporarily stood in for Mike Gordon.

I am not really surprised to hear he has stood down. It was coming at some point.

Both United and Chelsea were sniffing around him

Depends because he doesn’t want to work on the recruitment side of things. He wants to work with a multi club team and aren’t they cracking down more on those situations meaning it’s more difficult to have them?

Hughes, but he's going to Saudi at the end of the summer, apparently.

Also, word is we're a complete mess behind the scenes and Edwards and Hughes have been "not the best" From the outside it was a bit of shambles not getting rid of Slot earlier and if you look at Alonso interviews from yesterday, its pretty clear he would have been happy taking the job on. But maybe that will go down as one of football's happy little accidents as I think AI is a good coach.

Personally, I always thought it was a bit of a coup getting Edwards back but the red flag was the multi ownership model which i don't think FSG really had their heart on, and wanted him to run the recruitment which to be honest the likes of Graham and others may have been doing the heavy lifting there anyway. Probably could have foreseen all of this. Hindsight, eh?

Edwards will probably end up being a CEO of an agency after his next 6 months off, Never understood the fuss abou Hughes and it seems he's had one eye on the exit since arriving
I make no apologies, this is me
