SOS - More Harm Than Good

Not sure if a new thread is the way to go, but I think we need a forum here to debate views on SOS.

They claim to represent the fans, but their clueless tactics with regard to the RBS re-financing, and their Munich chanting (see other threads) are starting to alienate a lot people on here.

They obviously care about the club, but in my view, they are becoming an embarassment. They appear to be verging on the militant with some of their actions.

Does anybody here belong to them? Does anybody here in fact defend their actions?

It can be argued that some action is better than no action, but I for one do not feel represented by these people.
    Oh I don't know.

I really don't think some action is better than no action when the action taken makes you look like Newcastle fans at best and bigoted morons at worst.

Agreed, but that has been their implied justification until this point.
      Oh I don't know.

I accept that but I think until they proved themselves to be irreconcilable idiots with the Munich chants people felt it hard to criticise them as they appeared to have their heart in the right place in terms of wanting G&H out of the club. I've always been suspicious of groups who purport to represent the true meaning of being a fan and too many of their initiatives have smacked of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Personally, I have always thought they were born of arrogance. The belief that they, the select few, can represent the true meaning of LFC as they understand it most. I don't like people making arguments in my name, especially ones I don't agree with. I have no issues with pressure groups of people who hold the same views, but SOS have gone too far, claiming they represent 'the fans', i.e all real fans, trying to position themselves as the unofficial supporters club and be the people who the club must address for fan related issues. It's like the very worst aspects of the militant trade-union movement that was in Liverpool in the 80s, which I suspect many of those involved hanker back to.

thats pretty much the stance i took straight from the start - i don't need some self appointed bigwig to tell me how too support my club, if any remembers it i went on a big rant at the time comparing the whole set up to the judeas peoples front sketch from monty python

that clip form the end of season party, with the banner hung in the background, too me looks almost like a bnp party or a scene from american history x when all the red neck racisits have a barn party

I don't know what they have achieved or even hoped to achieve.
Smacks of self importance and ego stroking to me, always has done.

Maybe if the club get wind of this they will start distancing themselves from them.

The whole arrogant, militant thing is so very true.

                            Spot on mate

I have always been quite vocal in my dislike of them as a group.

I like the idea behind them but they really havent done themselves any favours recently. And like you guys I feel uncomfortable being represented by people who claim to be the voice of the people but who really want to further their own agenda.
