Arbeloa is a better defender than Dossena. Simple as that.I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.Comment

true, my preference would be to keep Arby as he can cover at LB, but he seems to be set on leaving this summer

Dossena, because he's a left-back and therefore offers proper cover for Aurelio. He is also more like for like - i.e. good going forward. Arbeloa is neither.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’Comment

Dossena is **** as a LB, if we don't buy a LM then we should keep him. Arbeloa is a decent RB, but not great going forward. Of the two I'd prefer to keep Arbeloa.Comment

Arbeloa is an excellent utility defender and offers the only option where we don't have to buy another defender in my view. It isn't ideal to have him covering both fullback slots but it would mean he got more games and hence is more likely to sign a new contract too. I rate him quite highly so would be looking to keep him almost no matter what.

Arbeloa is our only real experienced cover at right back, if Arbeloa goes we only have Johnson. At left back we have Aurelio and Insua who are both capable if we sell Dossena. Plus Arbeloa's contract is almost up. And Real may be willing to pay good cash for him now. If we keep him, we're basically writing off at least £5m so that we can hang on to a defender who might want to leave to cover a position he hardly ever plays in.
Whereas if we keep Dossena, we'll be hanging on to an LB who should have got more used to English football now, and who we will still be able to get a reasonable return on in January or during the summer.Comment

Cough Cough! Can't Carra play at RB too? He does an ok job as far as im concerned. So if GJ ever needs a rest Carra can slot in for him, giving Squirtl and Dagger more chance to gel at CB.
Hence Arby is surplus.
Well Id rather keep him, but if he wants to leave we are gonna be fine without him.
