Kenny Dalglish HAS RETURNED to Liverpool in a wide-ranging role based at the club's academy.

He will work closely with the youth system and as a sounding board for Rafael Benitez, the Liverpool manager.

The club legend - arguably their finest ever player and title-winning manager -will also also take on ambassadorial duties.

Personally I always preferred Chop, that little bit spicier. Can only get HP over here but still enjoy it.

It is really good to see that Rafa seems to have been a driving force behind Dalglish's return. It would be a real worry if he was installed otherwise. It also seems to fly in the face of the fears on other sites that Rafa is keen on installing 'yes'-men around him.

It is great that we are trying to incorporate our past without pandering to it. Rafa seems to be completely restructuring the backroom as he feels a modern clubs should be which is a good thing. At this stage I do feel we need a holistic vision from the reserves to the first team in the way United and Arsenal seemingly have had for a while now. The more people with different experiences and knowledge of winning and of our club in particular who get to give input the better and Kenny certainly ticks all teh right boxes as far as that is concerned.

True, although it seems Rafa has the measure of him and his poor tactics now.

What kind of role specifically would kenny fill in the academy?
