    Gerrard signs new contract

Liverpool star Steven Gerrard puts pen to paper on new £25m four year deal

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo....html?ITO=1490

Steven Gerrard gave Liverpool's pre-season plans a boost last night by signing a new £25million four-year contract.

The Anfield skipper agreed improved terms of around £125,000 a week in April and finally put his name to the deal after returning from holiday and joining his team-mates at Liverpool's Melwood training ground.

Gerrard recently announced that he intends retiring after seeing out his next Liverpool contract.

The England midfielder is the latest Liverpool star to commit to a long-term deal this summer.

Gerrard will be desperate to win the league title he and the club craves in his remaining years with the Anfield giants.

Great news that was never in doubt.

How refreshing to not have a contract saga this summer.

He could earn 300 grand a week at City, not that he'd be at all interested, luckily for us he's a Red from top to bottom, but it's mind boggling to think that such wages are soon if not now to be on offer to football players, however great they may be, massive sums of cash being earned every 7 days, a million £ a month, for playing the beautiful game, keeping fit and healthy, and retiring relatively young to then enjoy all the cash you've earned, bloody marvellous.

And it shows we reward loyalty and quality properly.

It's good. Previously he was torn between his loyalty to the club and winning medals. We've made such an improvement since the Chelsea debacle that it's now a no brainer for him to sign. He loves the club and he can see that this team is in the running to win some major silverware.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."
