I'd rather have had Johnson for the games where we need our RB to be better in an attacking sense and Arbeloa for when we need a RB that can defend.
    It doesn't matter.

What would you do after next season? Sign a replacement. So why not do that now.
    Forwards.......

Because by then, we'll have had a year to scout someone and get the signing right. Now, we'd have to rush it. Furthermore in a year's time, one or two of the youngsters might have proven themselves worthy. Thus saving us the cost of buying a new RB altogether.

Well I think we need another CB to cover a disaster. But if all three are fit the new player wouldn't play many games. Si they can play RB also that would be ideal.

I wouldnt disagree there. But i'd have kept Arbeloa as the more defensive RB option and a 4th choice CB if needed. IMO, we've lost quite a lot and £3.5m is chicken feed which doesnt cover what we have lost.

i cant see degen for one second being glen johnson's back up. The worst case scenario is that carragher moves to right back with agger and skrtel in the middle.

Im not really sure what degen is - he doesnt look like a right back because he doesnt position himself like one, he's not a right sided midfield player because he's dross going forward.

It might be time for Darby to be given a proper chance.

Hopefully Rafa will give him an opportunity ahead of Degen on Wednesday.

I do think we sold Arby on the cheap, given the current transfer climate.

In fact Madrid got a bargain....
