Contrary to all the rubbish printed by the British press regarding a 20 million
pound deal for Alberto Aquilani, Roma have themselves revealed the true extent of the payment structure for the Italian (both to the stock exchange as well as their own official site).

The 20 million EURO transfer fee is broken up into the following:

      - 4 cash instalments of
      - - 5 million EURO upfront
      - - 3 million EURO by 4th January 2010
      - - 7 million EURO by June 30th 2010
      - - 5 million EURO by June 30th 2011.

      Further Add ons include:

      - 300,000 EURO for every year Liverpool qualify for the Champions League from 2010/11 to 2014/15

      - 250,000 EURO everytime the player reaches 35 appearancs, 70 appearances, 105 appeances and then 140 appearances.

      - 1 million EURO the first time Liverpool either wins the Premier League or Champions League by 30 June 2014.

      - 5% of any future transfer fee will be paid to Roma.

Details can be found here (for those fluent in Italian) - http://www.asroma.it/UserFiles/988.pdf

So next time you read any article and it says we paid 20 million Pounds or any other funny amount, reference this article!

That being said, if we've only paid 5 million EURO for Aquilani, and got 30 million POUNDS for the Alonso deal right away....is there more money to burn or is it going to our esteemed American owners to re-finance their deal?

So that's 17 million pounds in installments with a potential 1.9 million and hopefully 900.000 pounds for winning the league. That is an ok deal IMO. Would have liked to see transfer amount lower but since it's spread I suppose it's natural.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Not sure these figures are true. There's an agreement between both clubs that the transfer fee would remain undisclosed, so I'm a bit surprised to see those details up in the open like that.

I'm sure some sort of refund scheme can be arranged for those 3 fans.

The PDF quoting the figures is on Roma's official site.

The agreement between Real Madrid and us is the one that's undisclosed.

AQUILANI IS JUST FAB, SAYS CAPELLO

                      DAILY STAR SUNDAY
                      9th August 2009
                      By Paul Hetherington

ENGLAND boss Fabio Capello last night hailed Alberto Aquilani as the perfect replacement at Liverpool for Xabi Alonso.

And Capello should know, having given midfielder Aquilani his debut when he was in charge at Roma.

The England manager said: “I know Aquilani very well as I gave him his first game at Roma.

“He’s a really interesting player and, at 25, this is a good moment for him to move from Italy to England. His style of play is the same as Alonso’s.”

I was waiting for Capello's first words on him.
And hoping they'd be to my liking.

Until I see him play have to just accept that someone like Capello knows his ****.

In summary, and not in any way knee-jerk, he's going to be our missing link

Potentially £19.8m then, which is near enough £20m. Higher than was originally anticipated, but with that repayment structure I guess we can see why.

Roma official Bruno Conti claims he was approached by Chelsea regarding the availability of Daniele De Rossi.

The Blues have been strongly linked with a host of players during the summer transfer window as Carlo Ancelotti looks to piece together a side capable of wrestling the Premier League title from the clutches of Manchester United.

The Italian coach is believed to have cast his eye over a number of those plying their trade in his homeland, with employees of former club AC Milan dominating the headlines.

However, it appears that Roma midfielder De Rossi has also fallen under his radar, with a big-money approach reported to have been lodged.

"I've personally had a call from Ancelotti to take the player to Chelsea. But Daniele is untouchable," Conti told Radio Radio.

"The offer was of a lot of money, but it has been refused."

Roma president Rosella Sensi has also moved to distance the club from any suggestion that they would be prepared to part with the Italy international.

"De Rossi isn't and won't be for sale. He remains with us", she said.

Sensi also admitted that the decision to offload Alberto Aquilani to Liverpool was a tough call to make.

"It was a difficult choice. But he deserved a big club," added the club supremo
                                .
