Pre Season Form - Anyone Worried?

Results wise, it's not been great so far.

I've not actually seen any of the games, so I'm not sure if there is a lack of continuity with the younger players, or it's because they are concentrating on fitness levels rather than performance levels.

I'd personally like to have beaten at least one of the better (Spanish) sides so far, but it wasn't to be.

No more warm up games left now, but we absolutely have to ohit the ground running at Spurs.

    Anyone worried?
    Oh I don't know.

Nope, not worried. My one worry is central defense come Sunday.

We played well in phases against Athletico, and you could tell by some of the things that Torres in particular was trying that he wasn't playing a competitive match.

      Pre-season results mean nada.

It's a time to experiment and get people back to match fitness, but most importantly these days get some extra wedge. They'll have not exactly been sailing under a full wind.

Agree with the first sentence. Not having seen the games though, I don't know what the intent has been like within the team.
        Oh I don't know.

Not seen 'em myself. Middle of the night is worth it in the season, but not when it's a friendly.

Not much more than a paid training session IMO.

The difference with the days gone by is the attention pre season games get. Back in the days people never knew anything about them. I also remember us being trounced 5-0 by Ajax in a pre season friendly in the middle 1990's when Uncle Roy was still in charge. I think we weren't far from winning the league that season; it was the notorious 'Spice Boys' team.

In a nutshell, results aren't important in pre season, even though the players would have wanted winning those games. The most important thing is the fitness and in one week we could be a very different team.

Spurs smashed Roma 5-0 last pre-season and went on to take 2 points from their opening 8 games.

Didn't Bent score like 10 goals in preseason for Spurs?

Can we judge anything from pre-season...i was under the impression from here and other sites that we were still doing two hard training sessions even on days when we had a friendly, so we would have been on weary legs for these games?

If we lose to Spurs it's been a bad pre-season.

If we beat Spurs its been a good pre-season.

                        Simple as that!

                          What if we draw?

I was waiting for someone to write that!

A draw means its been an average pre-season!
