Liverpool have beaten Celtic to win the prestigious Villareal Youth Tournament.
As reported last night here Liverpool and Celtic faced each other after very tough group games that included the likes of Ajax, AC Milan, Real Madrid and others.
Liverpool won the game 4 - 2 on penalties after the game ended 1 - 1.
Thomas Ince, son of Paul, scored the first goal after 5 minutes. Celtic then equalised after 51 minutes through Towell.
Rafa's new youth coach Rodolfo Borrell (snatched from Barcelona this pre-season) was instrumental in the side's success.
The two sides were:
Liverpool FC: Dawson, Flanagan, McGiveron, Roddan, Adorjan, Cooper, Oldfield, Ince, Dalla Valle, Buchtmann and Wisdom. Subs: Clair and Amoo.
Celtic FC: D. Gallagher, Santanocito, Keatings, Forrest, Grant, Towell, Giordano, O’Donell, Cochrane, Marsden and Brennan. Subs: Mc Gregor and Mc Donnell.
