What did he say? Not the old "we've had more corners than any team in the league" one!!
That was one of Ged's best!!
More or less the same thing.
RAFA: WE CREATED ENOUGH CHANCES TO WIN
Steve Hunter 14 October 2006
Rafael Benitez admitted he felt a sense of frustration at not seeing his team beat Blackburn Rovers because he felt the Reds created enough chances in the second half to win the game.
The Liverpool manager felt his team were below par in the first half but added he was pleased with the second half display which saw Craig Bellamy score his first Premiership goal in a red shirt.
"We must be disappointed because we haven't won the game but I felt it was there to be won in the second half and we created enough chances to take all three points," admitted Benitez.
"We conceded a bad goal in the first half and we made a mistake when our two centre halves were in a bad position, but I was pleased with the way we responded in the second half.
"We knew it would be difficult game because Blackburn are a tough team to play against but the reaction of the players in the second half was really good.
"Bellamy has now scored his first goal in the Premiership and that will be good for his confidence."
Personally I agree with Rafa that we created enough chances to win. I was disappointed with Crouchy's finishing today. One shot and two headers that I felt he should have done better with. Plus a failure to run in on a cross late on that could have also wrapped up the points if he hadn't been so static and gambled more on the cross.
A more clinical forward line would have resulted in a win.
I think its not what he says that I disagree with, its what he didn't (and probably deliberately didn't) say which is that our workrate and application in the first half was completely unacceptable.
Having lost the first half comprehensively we forced ourselves to have to win the second half 2-0.
We didn't win today because we only played for half an hour, and for the first half we were nothing short of a disgrace. They worked, we strolled.
