No it couldn't. If it did he would have mentioned their names and made them feel better about themselves. Rafa's said on more than one occasion (from January onwards) that we needed a replacement for Keane. He's also made it clear that he wants Voronin to leave the club.

But it all came down to how much money we have. Did we or do we still need to sell Voronin first? After purchasing a CB, would that leave us with enough money for a striker?

Indeed, can we find anyone suitable? It's clear something is not right other wise we'd have brought one in a while a go.

I guess I should explain myself more, especially in light of the Hertha Berlin rumour out again.

What he said was something along the lines of "Voronin wants regular football, but he will not get it here. If he wants to play it would be best for him to move. But if he is willing to stay and fight for his place that is good".

To me that is a diplomatic way of saying Voronin is not in his plans. I think all summer we have seen Voronin AND Dossena try and work Rafa and sit it out to try and drive the asking price down. Both know they are not in Rafas plans and both would prefer to move. There problem has been a lack of clubs willing to stump up the asking price. So both initially said they want to leave, then back tracked to say they want to fight for a place, now Dossena has said again he would love to leave and join Napoli. If the Hertha interest becomes concrete I expect Voronin to say the same.

It could be that Rafa has done very well to not lower the price on Voronin and cave into Herthas demands.
