For me, the blame was right at the start of the incident, with Riise losing possession further up the field, then not getting himself back into a position where he could've stopped the cross.

it was me who said it was, and yes it is a Reina bashing thread, because I don't think he was clearly at fault for the goal. If you're going to talk about that, why not talk about his excellent save later on, eh?

I don't want it to be a Reina bashing thread, because i'm a big fan of Pepe and i reckon he's a superb keeper.

And yes i will acknowledge he made a excellent save one on one which kept us in the game. We can talk about that if you want, i don't mind.

I agree with you, he wasn't clearly at fault, Hyypia and Carra, have to take probably the majority of the blame, but i was wondering why Pepe came out for the ball, he usually makes the right decisions in those cases.

Hyypia had to cover for Riisse who made a bad judgement going towards a loose ball he was never going to get, and was too late getting back into position. Carra and Finnan got dragged over after Hyypia, and both should have done better with the cross. If Nonda had ontrolled the cross as he should have done, he would have been in on Pepe, which is why he came out as he saw Carra was struggling to reach the cross.

Imho, it was a pretty cool finish by Macarthy - from the Main Stand I thought it was a wide open net, but on telly it wasn't that straightforward - he had to put it right by the post to be sure.

Riise lost the ball to high in the field (again), and Carra was all over the place in this game.
For me Carra had his worst game for years. Look at his posistioning on that last big chance they had. He stands on the right side of the two players fighting for the ball, the he decides to run behind them to left side just as it breaks free to right. If he`d put himself between the duel ar once he would have been in control of the situation. He`s usually very good in these sort of situations, but got a couple of the all wrong in this game.
The way we play now Agger should start most games. He`s proven himself good enough, and it`s not like we would break a CD duo pairing that is invincible.

Quite right. The ball bounced and split two central defenders who should have attacked it, or at least got far tighter on the strikers. Leave Pepe alone.

Definitely a defensive, rather than goalkeeping mistake. Plus Reina had that great block in the second half -imagine if that had trickled in!

nah, he hasn't been found out for anything, he's just low on confidence after the record setting season of last year. In fact it was probably a bad thing, as he'll find it hard to ever better that first season, but the defense has just as much responsibility to take for that as pepe.
