If we had bucketloads of money I would have been keen on a central defender too, but it won't happen, I mean, we won't sign a striker AND a central defender. Knowing Rafa, he's going to build from the back rather than from the front.
we can play with Gerrard in CM now. see Saj or craigs post for how. We simply have to break up the mash and lucas partnership it just isnt creative enough

We are more of a threat when Gerrard is closer to Torres. When he dropped deep yesterday, trying to do everything as he usually does in that position, I thought we were much less threatening than we would’ve been had he been playing off Nando. Yes at the time we improved but that was more to do with Yossi’s presence IMO.

He’s so much less effective in the middle of the park. I agree with John Doe – the key is getting Yossi in the side, and keeping Gerrard in tandem with Torres. They are a class pairing and capable of destroying anyone – we’ve seen it time and time again and you do not discard that after one rubbish performance.
Gerrard and Torres are only a class pairing if they get the ball. None of the front players got much service, we could've started with Yossi instead of Babel but it's unlikely it would've made much difference as he wouldn't have seen much of the ball. Until we have someone in midfield who can distribute the ball, we should have Gerrard there and Yossi behind Torres.

        It's a no-brainer.

Gerrard doesn't know how to distribute the ball.

Lucas is nowhere near as bad as people make out, we struggled yesterday but so did the mancs and chelsea (fluke winner) it's just that we had more difficult opposition to contend with, for me Carra lost us the game, I admit I wasn't there, but on tv you can clearly see him looking at Skrtl twice before he jumps into him and he also got muscled out for the 2nd goal

i dont think anyone here is saying Lucas is a bad player.....Just Like say Peter crouch decent players but not what we need now.

quite simply masher and lucas are an awful combination, masher is quality so we have to replace lucas in the middle somehow

He's **** at it. Gerrard being in charge of our game is a hindrance to our team and to himself. Lucas-Masch may not be exceptional but it's better than Gerrard-Masch. It really is. When you consider you'll be doing it by breaking up our strike force as well, it's just out of the question for me.

Ask Michael Owen about the service Gerrard gave him from midfield.

There's a difference between being able to pass and being able to make the right decisions. Gerrard doesn't need that burden, he needs to rip the other side to shreds 30 yards up the pitch.

Our style was completely different then. We were a counter attacking team, keeping little possession and being very direct. Rafa's Liverpool needs composure and the ability to slow down the pace sometimes.

I just don't understand why people are asking to move the best second striker in the league to fill a "hole" in the team.

It's an opinion, but I think you are wrong.

If he gets good service, which he won't with Masch and Lucas. He's
