In terms of transfer kitty, are we somehow the poorest team in the premiership?? I see clubs like fulham, sunderland and hull, (HULL?!?!?) making major signings whilst Liverpool Football Club are giving the manager pocket change to win the league title! This latest financial restriction could be the start of a massive problem for us.

Despite having seen summer windfalls of some US$65 million, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has been told he has just US$2.5 million left to spend in the current transfer window.
The club recently made more than US$5 million from its pre-season tour and has finally agreed a refinancing package with RBS and Wachovia for its debt.
Furthermore, Benitez has allowed both Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso to leave for Real Madrid in high-profile deals worth almost US$60 million.
Since then Benitez has spent around US$32 million on Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani. In all his dealings this year, Benitez has made a profit of around US$16 million.
Nevertheless, reports across the British mainstream media yesterday claimed Benitez has been told he has just US$2.5 million left for transfers, despite being promised a US$32 million kitty when he signed a new contract.
Reports suggest that Liverpool co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have used money from transfers to refinance debts in the USA. Both men have suffered financially in recent months - Gillett having had to sell his Montreal Canadiens NHL franchise and Hicks having had to dissolve his sports holding company.
However, following comments made on Sunday, Hicks' financial situation in particular might not be as constrained as first thought. The Texas Rangers owner now seems determined to hold on to control of his MLB team.

Ya that would be funny, Really funny. In fact it would be so off the scale funny that it is not going to happen.Originally posted by Rafael Benítez Maudes View Postwould be quite funny if you all find out that a big player has just signed for us.
and then you all start praising the americans for handing rafa the money
and doing the deal quietly.
but then again
nothing might happen.

Let's do the calculation here to see what we've really spent:
Aquilani - 20 million
Johnson - 12 million (at least 5 million came from what was owed from Crouch)
Alonso - 30 million
Arbeloa - 3 million
Leto - 2 million
Hammil - 1 million
I've been made the purchases a bit higher & the sales a bit lower just to see the worst case scenario.
That means we have made a profit of at least 4 million pounds, plus we should have at least 15 million pounds in the original kitty (again it's probably more). That means we should have at least 19 million pounds to play with - where the feck is the money?!!
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Therefore 16 million left..........paid towards debt:bird:
