According to the roma website, it was posted on other forum with a link the acquilani deal was in instalments up front payment was 4 million with the rest being paid in four years.

    Therefore 16 million left..........paid towards debt:bird:
Exactly! I was working on worst case scenarios...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Pretty much all transfer are paid in instalments. Your analysis is too simplistic as it's never that straightforward. Don't forget, a lot of these were undisclosed too, so who knows what is going on.
      Oh I don't know.

A transfer kitty of 2.5m for a premier league side would have been laughable 10 years ago. As for a club in 2009 who were runners up last year and now supposedly with their best chance ever of wining it............well, something is very wrong. If this level of "investment" continues we will drop down the league year by year until we've got the investment our club deserves. In a nutshell.....****!!

It was plainly obvious to anyone with an ounce of brain that we were ****ed financially when Rafa was playing hardball with Madrid over getting the 30m for Alonso upfront.

It is a sad state of affairs when Spurs and arguably even Villa now have a stronger squad than us, not in terms of quality but depth
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Villa are far worse of. They are thread bare at best.

              So are we.

Last season only one team in the Prem used less players than us. That was Villa. They used one player less. We've just lost more players than we've brought in.

If we sign a defender we'll be in exactly the same position, plus Insua who was not considered and a fit again Degen.

                Voronin - Keane
                Aquilani - Alonso
                Johnson - Arbeloa
                New CB - Hyypia

Pennant/Leto/youngsters sold were never considered as part of the plans last season. Our only down turn on last season is the loss of Hyypia and Alonso. If we can bring in another decent CB and Aquilani performs we'll be fine.

Plus we have a few youngsters who are better prepared to step in and fill the breach in emergencys. Spearing, N'gog, Darby, Ayala, Kelly and Pacheco are all a year older. Whether they are ready is another matter, but better prepared? No doubt about it.

We just need to make it to the Chelsea game within three points of the leaders. That would mean we have coped with a tough injury hit spell and players like Agger and Aquilani would be ready to play. Plus the lads from the Confed cup would have match fitness by that stage. Rafa gave them extra time off in pre season and eased them in gradually. It's costing us at the moment as they look way of the pace, but if we can get through this they'll be in a much better position than had they played more in pre season.
                Forwards.......

I know, that's why I took everything as a worst case scenario where there are no installments & the highest possible amounts for players bought & lowest possible for players sold.

Do you have any links to this statistic, how many players we used and the other teams. To be fair though I think our squad contains more senior players. Tottenham have a big squad though and I think they will be in the top six along with City, this will be a tight season.
                    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

But we don't actually know what our transfer kitty is.

So it's a bit of a pointless analysis made up of nothing more than guesswork.
                        Oh I don't know.
