The thing is it isn't so much the result (which is obviously important) but the manner of the performance that was disappointing. We played pretty poorly at the start of last season but pulled out the results anyway. That said if we can come together and start playing football this season quicker than last then we have every chance of winning the league. Actually in the same way a comprehensive victory against Stoke would have a psychological impact much bigger than the mere three points justifies (potentially on both the team and supporters).
No team has the aura that United and Chelsea have had in previous seasons of being unbeatable before the season starts. Obviously they have both started better than us in their efforts to establish that feeling this season but neither side looks special to me.
The same arguments hold against us that have been worrying people on here for a while anyway - squad depth and the problem of having to replace Alonso. Good performances by either young players coming in or those with a point to prove would be a big boost and I imagine change the mood on here.
Heaven help us all if it is a nil nil.

We can talk all we like but we need a win tonight. That is the reality of the situation.
Whatever happens for the rest of the season I think it would be fair to say that if LFC do win the title it will not be by a great margin. With that in mind every point is vital and a title chasing team should be putting away sides such as Stoke at home. Away to Spurs can always end up being a tricky fixture and top teams have often slipped up there in the past. Those sort of results you have to expect and get on with it, we'll not win every game this season. But Stoke at home is another matter.
Fact is the manager is not being backed regarding transfers.
Fact is cunt and cunt jr. is spending OUR profit on THEIR loans.
Fact is we have had a terrible pre-season.
Fact is we have some key players injured or out of form.
Fact is we should be allowed to moan and bitch a bit.
If you don't think so, **** off. Fact.
Of course, everything changes when we win our next six games
FACT is that you're focused on irrelevant factors. Results are everything and we're 4th having played the league leaders away and a bunch of **** houses who successfully shut us out twice last season and who started their campaign with a win.
