Pretty unequivocal quotes from Rafa after the game. Guess the bookies got it wrong again

Rafa Benitez laughs off quit rumours after Stoke hammering

        By David Maddock
        The Mirror

Liverpool put a smile on the face of Rafa Benitez last night, leaving him to laugh off rumours that he might quit.

The Reds recovered from the disappointment of opening day defeat at Spurs to emphatically dismiss Stoke with the sort of Anfield attacking display that their manager has demanded to give them a shot at the title.

Afterwards, a relaxed Benitez revealed that he was amused to hear of speculation that he would walk out of the club because he was unhappy at a lack of financial backing from his board.

Bookmakers yesterday even stopped taking bets on him leaving such was the intensity of the rumours, but even though he is clearly desperate to get more funds to strengthen his squad, the Spaniard insisted he will stay and fight for the title if he doesn’t.

“I was told about the rumours, that maybe something happened here at Anfield, but I will tell the fans I want to stay - my commitment is 100 per cent,” Benitez said.

“If I can improve the squad I will be pleased, but if I can’t then I will stay to try and compete with the squad that we have.

“I can state I am committed to this club. When I signed a new contract I decided to stay here for the fans, for the staff for the players
. We will try to get what we can, we will try to do what we can.

“We have nearly done the deal for Sotirios Kyriakos, it is just subject to the medical so we are bringing in a player, and we are trying to do what we can - we will see if we can compete with the squad that we have.”
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
        Mine angry and defrauded young?

the last bit in bold is worrying for me, we still need to get backup for torres at a very minimum, another cm wouldnt go a miss but backup for torres is essential

Still what on earth was Aldo getting involved with this? Kind of ruins any credibility in him for me.

From that it sounds like we have no more money to spend
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm not sure Aldo was involved in this whatsoever. It's been reported by a dubious website, not seen anywhere direct quotes from Aldridge.

Even if Aldo did comment, it wasnt on Rafa specifically. He could simply mean that he;s learnt the Yanks have used our transfer budget to pay off their debts. We kinda know that already, but it will be confirmed if we make no more sizable signings before the transfer coffin slams shut again.
                        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

OK, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt then.

If he came out with these quotes and meant what you are talking about, I think he still shouldn't have said a word, just kicking up some fuss there.

Still matter closed, don't believe Rafa would ever walk out on Liverpool after one game, that would be selling the club and the fans very short.
